. Original Article (4.84 HFW - March 2019): Huge News as the PS3 exploit ladder has taken a step up into 4.84 rung, with a new approach to bring back PS3Xploit functionality on 4.84. With a Hybrid Firmware (NOT A CFW) that can be installed on ANY MODEL PS3 over any Official Firmware (OFW) version. .The only thing this modified firmware essentially does is bring back the patched webkit from OFW 4.82 that was an entry point for PS3Xploit, if you recall when 4.84 was released developers @bguerville and @esc0rtd3w stated the exploit was not actually patched but rather only the webkit entry used was removed in 4.83+ which rendered the actual exploit unreachable (not patched and could be restored). Now the webkit is back for 4.84 OFW thanks to this new clever magic that has allowed OFW user's to use and install this slightly modified Firmware.​

So, what does all this mean? Now it will be just like it was back in 4.82 before PS3Xploit was "patched"(some ps3xploit tools need updated still) you will be able to install a CFW (on a CFW compatible model) and for those unfortunate user's that does not have a CFW Compatible model (i.e. SuperSlim/late slims) you have will have access to the HAN exploit . So for new user's or ones that updated, here is your second chances thanks to the efforts of the members of PS3Xploit Team and to @Joonie (waved magic wand on files) and prepared this magically release, @habib (for valuable input on this project) and @esc0rtd3w (work in porting ps3xploit tools to 4.84) ​

It has been an exciting month here at psx-place with so much progress on all fronts of the PS3 . the fuel of this project actually comes from a user simply igniting a spark with an idea as @Doge_Rules did with this thread truly making it a community effort.   Today, we proudly present the very first modified OFW that can be installed on all PS3 models. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FULL BLOWN CFW, HOWEVER IT Allows you to run the patched webkit exploit that's ported to 4.84)​
  
  Yes, you didn't hear wrong, it can be installed over
  
  • ALL OFW versions on ALL PS3 models
    • ex) OFW 4.83, 4.84 , CECH-3XXX, CECH-4XXX and etc..
  
  We wanted this to be called "HHHFW" since it was Hybrid, Hack-able, HAN ready also inspired by @habib but let's call it HFW since this is Hybrid FW (Well you can call this MFW).
  
  The idea was reminded by some guy who didn't want to be annoying but actually ended up being helpful: @ psx-place.com
  
  Habib had this idea long time ago but the previous attempt was not successful due to lack of interest and preparation.
  
  As you all know, I recently started messing with my PS3 again and this idea was brought back.
  
  So then I went ahead and tried his magical idea.... after a few hours later... Boom!!, now we have HFW that works on all PS3 models (including 3K and 4K) that allows the previously patched exploit by using old webkit from 4.50 that's been used until 4.83. This method is rather hacky than technical, so I would like to leave this method under the radar for now until it gets patched out (this can easily be patched).
  
  What can you do with this HFW 4.84.1/2?
  
  1. You can use PSN since the FW is the latest.
  2. You can downgrade/Install CFW on your PS3 if your model is downgrade-able/hack-able (excluding CECH-3K and 4K)
  (The same capability as what you had for 4.82 OFW)
  3. You can use HAN and all the tools that worked up to 4.82 with this FW.
  4. You can always go back to the real OFW 4.84 if you wish.​

Hi guys . Been a while since I did anything to ps3 . Got it hooked up yesterday for my son to play and 2 hours later looks like he updated to latest 4.86 official even though I told him not to grrrr. Anyways Multiman doesn't work neither Rebug Tools . Package installer is missing as well . I delete multiman and rebug before realizing that pck inst was missing . So is it any way to get back to cfw or we have to wait ?

I also did reset ps3 thinking this would work but it didnt lost all games but luckily have backups .

No, as it seems that @bguerville changed something in the toolset and it says patched applied even though it hasn't!
I openend up a thread about this on here, but moderators only apply with mind numbing answer and totally overread that I did several Ps3 the week before the same way, but now it stopped working for some reason.

 

I would like help.
after the last update of the PS3 4.86 system (I am using HFW 4.86.1) and HEN 3.0.1, here I am playing ps2 games using the Ps2 classic launch just as I did before the updates in the previous version 4.85 (HFW 4.85.1 + HEN 3.0.0).

But now my Ps2 Memory Card no longer appears inside the Ps2 classic launch emulator and I can't load my saves. When I try to save a game, the ps3 simply shuts down.

I tested it in several games, and some before even starting the game, the warning appears that I don't have a Ps2 Memory Card in slot1. however in XBM it has the Ps2 virtual Memory Card allocated in compartment 1.

I already deleted the Ps2 Memory Card that existed and created a new one but it doesn't work.

even in the Ps2 classic manager when I open it, he says I don't have an active Ps2 Memory Card, even though they are there in the XMB.

what should i do, will it be a bug of the new updates?

I have the super slim 4301 on hfw 4.86.1 i dont have ps2 memory card problem at all as im using the rebug verison of the ps2 classic & iso. Give that one a try as long you activate the rap file for that to work

im willing to bet that the pup u had on usb wasnt the rebug pup but the hfw one. copy the rebug pup to usb and try to install it again...if that doesnt work try installing ofw twice (to clear out anything the toolset did last time) and then use toolset again. after patching then reboot and install cfw.

The toolset does not auto patch or auto check and respond back with that info. It will show if CFW syscalls are enabled or not and it will show what FW version and type in corner.

The Flash Memory Manager will show you the SHA-256 hashes of FW installed (ros0/ros1 banks), and it will allow you to load or download a patch. It will at no time tell you you have applied a patch when you have not or something is patched when it is not. You have to download or load patch first and then the toolset verifies it before allowing Apply patch option

Please provide more detail and screenshot is best to explain what you even mean

Also no matter how much or how many whatevers you did does not mean anything. You could have overlooked something. I personally tested multiple NAND and NOR consoles and the things we encountered are mentioned in the toolset itself for suggestions and tips.

its your usb drive then or port. try diff port and also diff usb drive, or format again fat32

Sounds like it either memory stick is not compatible or you have dodgy usb ports on the ps3 check inside the usb port and usb memory stick to see if there fluff in them as i had a similar issue like not detecting usb memory stick i had to clear out dust and fluff and it worked again

what I want to ask is if I want to create an act/idps ID in the psn store, I have to update to fw 4.86 (from $ony web) or update to 4.86.1, because after getting the act/idps ID I will install HEN again.
