As an MD5 for the HFW 4.88, not the one listed in OP...

I re-download and re-extract and the MD5 is indeed that.

Installed it. It boots. Still trying to install HEN...

i get 23f60baf3c3d38bc77aa452e770d1248 for the pup. maybe you checked the md5 of the rar by accident?

Try installing without any USB device connected. By default wMM scans for games when it starts.

If there are many games, the scanning may take few minutes.
Go to http://0/setup.ps3 then uncheck the scanning on startup, save and restart.

Also check that /dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/category_game.xml was not replaced by another homebrew.

Still the folder dosent show up. Maybe this only works on hen?
 
I updated HEN and I can't play my online games with my friends. Now that HEN is updated how do I sign in to PSN? I try to sign in to PSN and update it says please remain on this firmware check ps3exploit.com for new announcements regarding firmware. Put a link to download a working 4.88 os that works with hen piz.

lol, I had HMAC checked. So it was HMAC MD5 with an empty key.

It's coming back to 23f60baf3c3d38bc77aa452e770d1248 now
 
4.88 HFW and HEN 3.0.3 on PS3 Slim model CECH2001A working.
HEN initialization failed several times, had to use alternate method. Just thought I'd come here and share this because HEN 3.0.2 initialized first try. This was what it was spamming during attempts (if it's any help):
... xtra_data could not be located in range 0x80100000 - 0x80300000
