try the mega link in the OP of this thread. it is RAR file. you must extract the PUP file from the RAR file.

HAN is dead, it's been superseded by HEN. If you want quick updates after a new firmware releases switch to HEN. HAN has become a low priority and doesn't get updated for new firmware quickly at all anymore.


This was my opinion during the 4.87 release. I stand by it.

The problem with HAN is that it's been superseded for a long ass time but every version some people say something along the lines of "HAN is all I need", which is fine, it's everybody's right to resist change, at their own expense, but when it comes to not switching from HAN to HEN people are resisting change at the devs' expense. Time for the devs to just rip off the adhesive bandage and stop updating it so people are forced to move to HEN and they can let HAN die which is the impression I get of what most of the devs would prefer.

okay. if it is reading discs, then it is not because of the disc drive. those error codes do look familiar...search the forums, maybe there is a thread with a solution.

"Error with installing Firmware update. The PUP is not recognised as valid uptade. (can be renerated by pulling the storage device with the PUP when it is still in checking stage. DANGEROUS!). Or when trying to install MinVerCheck.PUP inmediatly after an HDD repacement in PS3 models with a NOR flash"

Maybe is the device that you're using have some problem, or the download (or extraction) of the 4.88 HFW get corrupted. Try to download again (of another source if possible) and use another storage device.

I can't find nothing with the error 8002F997, confirm if the error code is correct.

try this in recovery:

Right after pressing Start + Select to search for the update, quickly unplug the controller. Leave it unplugged untill the search completes.

I'm using google translator, hope you can understand. Well, I still prefer HAN because I see a lot of people complaining about problems with HEN, apart from the ban reports. I don't find HEN as safe and stable as HAN. I've always used HAN and never had any problems and it was always enough for me. I hope you don't abandon HAN as there are many users.

One thing many people forget that I never see mentioned for some reason: PS3HEN has HAN baked into it! If someone doesn't want all the extra stuff PS3HEN can do, that's fine. They should just install PS3HEN and continue to use it like a HAN only installation.
