Just tried. I'm facing the same issue with your PUP on a 2K. As said LuanTeles you must test it over OFW (any but at least the 4.89). QA flag should not interfere though.
 
Ok so I have tried the HFW for three systems failed on both NAND units but it took on my 2501A. I do not want to try on my other systems above 3.56+ as I have no way to recover those. Now that being said the file that is modified should not cause a brick as CoreOS isn't modified. Could cause a softbrick which for NOR flash systems is easy to overcome. Now NAND based is a different beast but there isn't really a reason to run HEN on these systems.

    Important Notes:
    • ❎Bgtoolset by @bguerville is not yet compatible with FW 4.89, so there is no patch for those who update it and want to go back to CFW on compatible models.
    • ✅ HFW (Hybrid Firmware) is not available yet, please be patient.
    • ❎ CFW (Custom Firmware) is not yet available, it may take a few weeks, but @Evilnat (yeap, he is alive, we were worried about him too) via his twitter reported that he will be working on it.
    • ❎ HEN is not available yet, it will be eventually released after the HFW.


  • Homebrews Updates:
    Backup managers often need an update after a new FW version is released, at least to identify the current firmware version correctly.


Warning for CFW users:
Don't update it YET
DO NOT use any spoofing method until it is confirmed that the PSN authentication method has not been changed.

I screwed up bad and updated like an idiot before reading the news now all my jailbreak tools are gone ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️ I don't want to use my Fat model before a fix is but not sure how i will get my tools back and use the New User ID i have on the console in addition to my own. I'm not signing into PSN since but i had to download some of my PS3 games and DLC packs in there.

Anyone have any tips or info on how to avoid getting the CFW tools back and avoid Sony's spy software?

Cech 4202C Is my model I installed over top Of hfw 4.88.1 not cfw maybe that's why it installed. I ain't used my PS3 since though as got no hen on it so can't really test it out properly so I'll just wait anyway for another HFW and all issues to be resolved before installing again and trying to use.

I recommend not installing it yet even though it was Same for me but I've changed my HDD now to a bigger one and am waiting for a new hfw to come out. Best to wait for them to iron all the issues out and install it again. Best to be safe than sorry.
Im doing a clean install once it's out

How do we recover homebrew programs for some like myself who made the mistake and went for the update and now have no access to bgtools or any of our CFW programs and tools? How do we jailbreak again or do we need to wait for Evilman to have the new firmware update ready?
 
Sorry if maybe it's a trivial question.

I had saved backup copies of OFW 4.88.

If I were to jailbroke an old (moddable version..) ps3 with an old OFW installed, I could use ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com updating it first to OFW 4.88 ?

In this case I could only modify it but not activate it online (the limit will be only no rap games?) until the release of a hypothetical CFW 4.89 ?
 
Kinda in the same situation, I just managed to put my hands on a CECHA00, it's currently on OFW 4.31 (yeah, that old), I want to install Rebug. Should I just update to OFW 4.84 first via USB?

Also, the jailbreak guide recommends creating a PSN account prior to installing CFW. I assume that's no longer possible? (at least until ps3xploit is updated to support 4.89)

HFW - is OFW, only with the official exploitable browser from 4.82. Well, a couple more official files in support. That's the whole difference.

I just showed in the firmware comparison exactly what changes happened between 4.88 and 4.89. That is, which files were modified by Sony.

Is it even needed? Thought that ps3xploit works* on OFW directly. Or is HFW only needed for HEN?

* ps3xploit at this moment doesn't work at all due to its SSL certificate having expired but that's not the point.
 
in case of PUAD Gui not visible on screen, there was a fix posted by (just guessing) I think aldostools and it was intended for laptops. I will upload it to resource section ;)

anyways, beware of using PUAD Gui, cause it breaks file permissions on some devflash parts

No, ps3xploit HEN works only on HFW, because that's the only reason they make such a hybrid with an exploitable browser from 4.82.

The sites http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) along with ** www.** ** www.ps3xploit.net > D... by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) both still work.
