4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

Well, PSOne Classics are intended to be downloaded from PSN, so it figures that they should be under PSN content. When you package a PS1 game as a classics title, the pkg is basically an installer that installs the game into the PSN content tab.
I'm not really sure why you bother though, you can just copy the bin/cue files into the PSXISO directory and mount them using webMAN MOD like you do with PS3 games. Note that all PS3 models are backwards compatible with PS1 games (both discs and ISO). The whole BC models thing is just for PS2 games.

PS2 games do a semi-restart because the PS2 emulator "takes over" certain hardware peripherals. Hardware like the USB ports, network and some other stuff needs to be directly controlled by the emulator, so the full GameOS can't be running in the background and using those. That's why you can't run PS2 ISOs from USB disks and you need to copy them to the internal HDD first. That's also the reason why webMAN MOD can't keep running in the background (which is in turn the reason why dynamic fan control is not available when playing PS2 games).

ISO decryption is only needed if you have a ReDump type ISO, which is what you get when you rip a PS3 disc on a PC or when you explicitly turn off decryption in multiMAN. By default, multiMAN (and IRISMAN) automatically decrypts games when you rip them, so the resulting ISO is not encrypted to begin with.

But PS2 Classics as well as PKG in general come also from the PSN and they don't go to the PlayStation Network section when run (except PSOne Classics, precisely).

Even though the PS3 is compatible with many PS1 games, it may have issues with some. Those games may have a PSOne Classic version (which was specifically made for the PS3) and so it shouldn't have issues unlike the original PS1 version.

It's an odd restart since the screens turns on with the PS2 game already being ran. So, does that mean PS3 controllers only work via BT when running PS2 games? What if running PS2 games via OPL on PS3 Fat? Can PS2 games hosted from a PS3 USB device work this way?

Also, I have the 80010017 error message when running some ReDump ISOs (and others not, which is odd) even after having uploaded the ISO and the corresponding key (both have the same name) to "/dev_hdd0/PS3ISO" and clicking "Decrypt 3k3y/Redump ISOs (HDD)". Like I said, a message appears saying "Could not find any encrypted ISO file". How can I fix this?

Haven't tried but probably you have to delete the dkey file. You should leave the redump encrypted iso as is and the dkey file along in the same folder and let it decrypt on the fly by cobra. Tried a couple of games this way and it works. This is a huge improvement in ps3 scene, we got rid of a lot of problems in terms of collection and preservation. Nat and other member of the scene are doing a great improvement in the last months! ;)

First you said I should probably delete the dkey file and then keep it, so I don't know what should I do. Let it decrypt on the fly? Then why are there 2 settings to decrypt ISOs if Cobra does it on the fly? I tried leaving them on the same folder and running the ISO and I still had said error message so there's no on the fly conversion. In which folder did you put them, by the way? The second ISO decryption setting regards USB but mentions the PS3's internal HDD's PS3ISO folder, not the USB device's PS3ISO folder, which is odd. It mentions a "key" file and not a "dkey" one as well.

Did you run them with webMAN MOD? I don't even have it installed and I use IRISMAN.

Also, why do some websites have games with two keys, one with a "key" extension and another with a "dkey" one?

Where can I find a no-bt version? It does not seem to be included in the mega
hey after looking for a bit i found it has my bd drive doesnt work either, mega(.)nz/folder/kFNQnL4Y#d2ar9dMW8fgT-afd3ceE3A, now IDK WHO's mega this is but i found it on consolemods(.)org/wiki/PS3:Firmwares#Evilnat_4.91.2_+_Cobra_8.5

Evilnat is awesome. I'm not sure how it happened. My bluray drive has not worked in a couple years now, would just not accept discs and it never made noise. When i installed the latest beta and my console restarted, I saw the blue light turn on for the fist time in forever. Sure as shit, when i hit eject it just beeped at me and then a random burnt dvd come out. my ps3 now accepts all discs and reads them perfectly. i was sure my drive was perma-dead.

So thanks Evilnat, even if it wasn't on purpose, you fixed my ps3. :)

You dont need psn account nor account activation for download updates for games.

Hi friends, I saw that there is CCapi for the 4.91, it worked installed, but I noticed that a lot of ram is consumed and thus with Uncharted 3 lags up to even crash.

Assuming you have it installed, I recommend uninstalling webMAN MOD, or at least switching to the Lite version. I used to have the same problem with GTA V — uninstalled webMAN, and haven't had issues since. Alternatively, if you don't really need CCAPI, you could try uninstalling that instead.

As Luisle said, for game updates you usually don't need to activate your system or be logged in to PSN at all. Just make sure your PS3 is connected to the Internet (do a connection test through network settings if you're not sure) and when you launch the game next time it'll prompt you to update. Updating games this way is completely risk free.

You only need to activate the system if you want to play online on PSN or if you want to buy digital games on the PS3 store. The procedure is pretty simple -
1. Disable syscalls through ★Custom Firmware Tools -> PSN Tools, or, if you have webMAN MOD installed, just press the R2+△ combination on your remote. This makes it much less likely for modded systems to be detected and banned, as long as you don't do stupid stuff like use cheats and mods online.
2. If you don't have a PSN account yet, or if your only PSN account is also used by PS4 / PS5 / another PS3 still on OFW, it is extremely recommended to create another account for modded PS3s, because if you're unlucky enough to get banned, the account is completely closed, taking everything with it. It's not possible to create new accounts on the PS3 anymore, but you can do it easily through the playstation.com website or the mobile app.
3. Login to your PSN account on the website (playstation.com) or mobile app, then go to Account Management -> Security -> Device Setup Password. Click the "Generate" button and write down the password that shows up.
4. Setup PSN on your PS3 the same way you do on unmodded PS3s - Go to the PSN tab, select the "Sign Up" option, then select existing account. Note that you will need to enter the password you got in step 3 instead of your real password.
5. Go to Account Management -> System Activation -> PS3 System -> Game to activate your console.
It's very recommended to also do this -
6. Sign out and reboot the system to restore syscalls (you will need to disable syscalls every time you want to sign in to PSN).
7. Backup your activation data by inserting a FAT32 formatted USB disk and going to ★Custom Firmware Tools -> PSN Tools -> Backup Activation Data. That way if you ever factory reset your PS3 or format / replace the HDD you can just reimport it and have it activated without even having to login to PSN. Note that this only works on the same console - you cannot backup the activation data from one console and import it on another.

anyone know if this works on DECR-1400A models i dusted myn off and its on an old rebug firmware built for DECR versions
