PS4 8.x HEN

What are the chances of there being a homebrew enabler for 8.03 (or 8.x)?

If so, the PS4 would make for a great retro machine (via RetroArch) once I score a PS5.

probably eventually, but maybe not for months or even years. it took like a year or two for anything to go beyond 5.05. 7.02 is like the beginning quarter of 2020 I believe, so we're getting there. I'd say don't update unless you have to.

It took a long time before there were even really any homebrew on PS4, and even longer for a recent exploit chain, and yet just a little longer for the most recent 7.02 full exploit chain. Over time as the research increases on the ps4 and further I'm sure new exploits will arise. I however would not hold my breath for anything on anything more recent than that. Ps4 is a very complex machine and $ony learned from their mistakes with ps3, for example full cfw capability vs a homebrew enabler that only exists in ram(I for one am rooting for a somewhat permanent hack alike cfw but am grateful for what we have) as pinky said, "don't update, unless you have to." I'll add to that, "and even then still don't update if you want to possibly have an exploitable console, maybe, someday..." Lol

newer firmware seems to have more challenges associated with it, so I think that's why failure is more prone the higher up you go firmware-wise. that's what I've read anyway. the ps4 exploits are supposed to be like race attacks like the early wii u ones. those were prone to failure quite often early on, but they've gradually gotten better (close to 100% on 5.5.1, which is the firmware I'm on). :)

2017 is the last exploit was released back then before ipv6 uaf exploit is a thing. and this was only announced back last year so that's 3 years or so of waiting... and that kex was only made a thing after theflow just out of whim work on PS4 scene.

now that theflow is out on ps4 scene because of that stupid person out there..... who knows who is the next person taking that place.

maybe give it like additional 3-5 years before you can see someone began working on the scene again. at least until ps4 is basically no longer in production.

Thats the thing for me since i play online i must always update system software, but thats about to stop since i secured a PS5 from best buy i will no longer update console but yes a HEN would be lovely for us way past 7.02 lol

they need to get 7.02 more stable first. it doesn't work with rest mode, and it takes like five minutes to get a success with the exploit. it can still kp contrary to what was originally thought, but it's a lot less likely to happen. it will crash with rest mode though at least after one success using it from what I've heard from friends.

I agree it could take a while, years, if at all for any new exploits to be publicly disclosed. Unfortunately theflow has left the scene and he was the main reason along with sleirsgoevy who ported the synactiv talos we socket vulnerability and chained it with the flows kernel level exploit which is currently the exploit chain available for 7.02. over time I hope to see improvement but I guess time will tell...

supposedly, theflow found the exploit in three days too, so he's a genius. he's gone back to the vita scene, where he created a new exploit, called something like h.lo or helo or something like that, which is a web exploit like henkaku, but I think it might be better actually or that it works on later firmware. speaking of which, it's surprising that neither temp nor psx place found out about it. it's on his twitter page. that's where I found out about it. it was discovered shortly after the ps4 exploit I believe.

edit: it's called henlo: https://twitter.com/frwololo/status/1276454894615048193

So no chance of even 8.0 yet?

think the webkit exploit only works up to either 7.51 or 7.55, and the kernel exploit is supposedly fixed on 8.0 anyway. however, several payloads have already been updated with offsets up to 8.00, just no kernel exploit part in code.

means on 8.0 we can't just play backups of ps4 and ps2 games only?

How can i install hen on 8.0? please give me tutorial link. Thanks.

@pinky is right, there's no HEN for 8.0 (yet). As far as I know, the highest exploitable fw is 7.02 at the moment. Just wait a while and try to be patient... There will be a bit of a lull in the scene while the developers work, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some news for 7.5x and 8.x firmwares in the next few months, but there's really no way to tell... It took a long time for new fw exploits between 5.05 and 6.72, then 7.02 happened fairly soon after.

Webkit for 7.5x and offsets for 8.0 are a really good sign, but until there's a public kernel exploit, anyone over 7.02 is stuck waiting. I know it sucks... I collected dust with my 7.02 for quite a while before the good news came last month.

Hang in there a while and check back now and again. Your time will come... :)

I think it's only a matter of time. theflow disclosed his second exploit, which was supposed to be patched on 8.00. and, the webkit exploit we have works for 7.51, possibly 7.55 as well. you can run the webkit exploit by itself if you're on one of those firmwares. I did so back on 4.07 when the kernel exploit was up to 4.05. it will tell you if it succeeded. however, I've heard this webkit exploit is a bit unstable, so it may not work every time. the 4.07 webkit exploit worked first try for me.

here's what a webkit only exploit looks like, but they got more informative over the firmwares. this is me on 4.07:
