PS3 A few annoying fixes for my modded PS3 possible?

I own a ton of custom modded consoles, but the PS3 seems to have a few annoying issues:

Are the following possible fixes/mods possible?
-Is there a way to avoid having to install PS2 games, and just play them off the drive?
-Is there way to grey out or make unselectable prep ISO, and the webman installer, and settings so when my friends come over don't accidentally press them?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

Ad1. Disk drive or disc drive? From optical media only on models which have EE+GS/GS. From directly internal HDD, only on CFW.
Ad2. WMM installer is no longer needed once you installed WMM. :P What about Prep ISO I dunno, not using it. But anyway, Package Manager seeks USB, so if you don't want something or something which very seldom using, just delete it, and left PKG on USB.

Ok, thank you for the suggestions & ideas. Is there a better solution than using Prep ISO so the PS2 games can be just ready to play? I know TJ posted hardware limitations, but is a solution possible?

This isn't exactly an issue with the PS3 :)

IMO, the best way to prevent friends messing with your console is simply to request that they don't mess with the console. If you don't trust them to respect that then I think your issue is different than having the ability to disable stuff on the XMB.

I gotcha on that, but I also setup a free-to-play arcade at Smash Bros events, and other gaming conventions and these are mod-boxes inside some of the modded arcades I make. I have to make sure they are air-tight and no one can just break them or the settings. The PS3 has kind of been my personal bane as the only console with too many issues to make a full arcade with since it has a couple of stand-out issues that I'd like to solve. It'd be cool to have a giant PS3 arcade machine as tall as myself with the modded PS3 inside it with all the other ones! Perhaps the shell of the arcade should look exactly like a phat PS3! (and make it extra shiny!)

Ohh that makes much much more sense! Yea, I think it would take some extra work to get a PS3 to function more like an arcade box - I'm imagining a Homebrew app that has the selection of games preloaded onto it (kind of like a Capcom Collection with every Street Fighter game available to play), that disables the PS button or something to lock the system into the app, so you would have to have access to the power button to reboot if something went wrong with the app. I'm not sure how it would run emulation for different generations though.

If you're running CFW and not HEN, maybe a viable alternative would be to use PS3XPAD to remap some of the buttons? I like the idea though. I want to do something similar with my PS3, but I'm not planning on setting mine up at events, so I don't have the same use case as you.

The only way to get around having to install ps2 games before playing them is to get a OG backwards compatible ps3. All other models will require them to be installed first. That's the only solution as the OG ps3 is the only model that has the Emotion Engine.
As far as setting up a modded console as a arcade cabinet use set up, SUPER BADASS first off. Kudos for attempting it!
Evilnat nor HEN are set up to be used in a arcade cabinet situation unfortunately. Definitely something that can be implemented in the future by the respective devs. Keep bugging them for it and maybe one day? The wheel that squeaks the most gets the grease!
Otherwise, Kindly tell people to not mess with any settings, or put a sign up next to your cabinet? Hopefully people at those types of conventions already have a higher respect level for not just going in and adjusting things willy nilly.
