A noob making one ps3 out of 2 semi broken consoles

First of all, a big hello to the community from Serbia! I am new in the ps3 world but know a bit about computers. Here's the thing:
I am about to purchase two semi broken consoles.
One of them is a 40 gig fat console, I think it's a G04, it's operable but missing a BD drive, the seller sais that it's "chipped" (i presume that it is jailbroken) and I'm getting it for 30 euros.
The other is a 250 gig fat, G04 with YLOD, it was fixed once, worked for 6 months and died again but the console is complete. Giving 10 euros for it.

What I want now is to form one fully functional console out of these two, taking the hdd and BD from the 250 gig one and transfer them to the 40 gig one. Is this doable and if it is, how can I do it?
From my research I saw that I will most likely have to "remarry" the BD drive to the console but I have no idea how to do that, saw something about maybe have to use an e3 but don't have access to that kind of hardware here. Also what about the hard drive, any specific procedure about that...?

TIA for the help, sorry if the thread is in the wrong subforum, like I said, new to this stuff... :-)

Thanks! Maybe the biggest problem is that I don't know which CFW is on the console... I'm getting the consoles tonight or tomorrow so need to check the firmware so that I can know what to do next. Will update the thread once I get the consoles.

Check if it really is jailbroken, download a CEX firmware, i use Rebug 4.82.2 Lite, and follow the instructions

Yes you can remarry with Rebug , see the thread posted above and read it all. When they talk about needing a version of Rebug that has the CFW settings XMB item pre enabled, you can ignore that, as latest Rebug versions have it enabled by default.

Thanks! What about the HDD? Is it plug and play or is there a procedure?
Not plug and play. You have to install the exact firmware that you had on the previous hdd. So install Rebug, (for all i know not REX, i had problems changing HDDs on Rex Rebug), change the hdd, and when you turn off the console it will ask you to install last firmware. Use the same usb stick that you installed the first time, and follow on screen instructions. You could make a backup firstm but since the consoles were not yours, probably you would not need that.

Yes, just plug it in, then you will be asked to reinstall FW of same version or higher, you can just use the same or higher CFW for this step, if the Rebug PUP gives an error, try a different CFW of same or higher version like Ferrox, then once back on the XMB you can install Rebug again if you want.

Okay, the dude with the working ps3 just sold the console to some other guy just in front of my nose! So, guess i'm stuck with the 250 gig YLOD console... :-\

Well, now I found a working 160 gig slim 2104a, sooo this thread can be closed. As for why I wanted to buy semi working ones, for the thrill and for the satisfaction of making something broken - operable :) Aaaand the whole set would be dirt cheap. :-D

EDIT: one more quick question, since the slim is on OFW, can i just swap the hard drives? I presume that the console would ask me to format the drive...
