With BC consoles, the YLOD is usually a defective RSX and this can be replaced (Frankenstein Mod) but it is very time-consuming and not feasible for everyone. There is also the possibility that the previous owner exposed the board to too high temperatures during a reflow and damaged several components, which is not a problem in itself to replace, but first finding out what was grilled is very time-consuming. In addition, a CELL could be defective either due to a failed delid or due to overheating etc. and replacing this is also very time-consuming as you also have to have a BGA station for this and probably also have to replace several components such as the Syscon which are linked to the CELL. So theoretically you can repair everything, but in practice some things are not economically worthwhile and, as I said, it depends on your skills.
