About to get a rlod cechc04 for 30 bucks. Is it more likely a rsx issue or a nec tokin issue?

Just for your info, ive broken 2 cechc04s so far, so I want to do this properly.

Whats the most common issue with rlod ps3s that havent been opened up/tampered with? I thought that just replacing the necs would 90% fix the issue, but I think youtube has kinda fooled me when it comes to this and most times you need to do a reflow which I dont really trust myself doing. If theres no clear answer I would like to know which one is safer to do first atleast. Replacing the necs or doing a reflow?

Well there is no sure fire way to know as it can easily be either one. Best bet is to dump the syscon to see exactly what the issue is to diagnose. Now for the price I would get it either way. I have had the caps redone in mine and it's been issue free since.

yes i have a uart reader and ive used it a couple of times on my previous ps3s. But wouldnt the errors be kind of the same wether it was a nec issue or a rsx issue? Looking at the error list, im not seeing anything that specifies a nec capacitor issue. Is there an error code that could signify a nec capacitor issue?
