After new HDD installation (both had HEN), DualShock 3 won't sync wirelessly after cold boot. I can turn the PS3 on with the DualShock 3, but then the DualShock 3 won't sync. It will blink all 4 red lights forever.
I can get the controller to finally sync so I can use it if:
These are all consistent, and true of *both* of my DualShock 3s. So it's not the gamepads, but the PS3 (or something else interfering, which didn't apparently interfere a week or two ago when my PS3 had its previous HDD (and also HEN).
Plugging the gamepad via USB into my PC didn't help. Not sure why it would, but just thought I'd throw that out there.
I tried repairing the PS3's new HDD's filesystem, which I think always thinks it's corrupted? I'm considering wiping it via PC and then putting it back in my PS3; but not sure if that will help with anything.
UPDATE: If I turn on the PS3 via the power button and wait, I can sync the gamepad. But if I turn on the PS3 via gamepad, it will stay blinking forever (until those three things I said are done).
I can get the controller to finally sync so I can use it if:
- I hit the reset button on the gamepad with a pin
- I plug in the gamepad via USB. The gamepad will continue to work after I unplug it
- I hit the PS button on the *other* of my two DualShock 3 gamepads. Yeah, that's a weird one.
