I've had good luck with the 2501 and 4301, but I prefer the original hardware bc. You have to have passion and some skill to make it worth using, but then I got the others for peace of mind being able to play PS3 games. Every time I turn off my A01 and E01 I can't help but wonder if they will turn on the next time…

signed up just to answer this.

If you mount a PS2 iso on a BC console it will by default run it using the PS2 hardware.

You can also toggle between HW and software emulation through rebug toolbox or webman.
You tried this on CECH A/B or CECH C/E ?

I have it goes from full BC for A/B to exactly what the 3000+ models use so I have found no real use for this. The C/E is the same but semi-BC to non-BC of the slims. But as long as you load a game directly and do not use the launcher it will use full/semi-BC systems.

Whenever any BC ps3 detects a ps2 game regardless of it being physical (disc) or virtual (iso, folder), it will always run using hardware.

However, as i mentioned earlier, we are able to toggle between hardware and software.

For anyone seeking a 'reliable' console;

The PlayStation 1 & 2 are workhorses who may be starting to show their age.

PS3 and newer are more complicated and run hotter. I think once a console is discontinued and the only options are used, ownership requires some knowledge and skill. You have to be able to disassemble, clean, and replace thermal compound at the very least. Otherwise, unless you're lucky, you'll eventually be looking for a replacement.

The first PS3 I ever bought was an used CECHA01. Little did I know it had already been repaired. I just used it to play MGS4, since it was the only game I had at the time. A few months later, jailbreak for 4.82 came out (November 2017) and I loaded it with PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. After that, the console didn't even last a week before I got ylod. I reflowed it myself and managed to backup my saves, but I couldn't manage to get it working again.
Later, in 2018 I was more lucky and found a CECH 2511a with 3.56 min ver, which I've had ever since. I'm really happy with it.
For PS2 games, I just decided to get a PS2 for dirt cheap in 2019. It looks great with component cables.

Full jailbreakable 25xx is the best for reliability

Phat B00/B01 the best for looks. The all black glossy shell is so slick
