PS3 Black Screen when playing PS2 on PS3 CECHK04 Rebug 4.82 DEX (Cobra 8.01)

Heya,

I am kinda new to the PS3 modding scene but not the modding scene as a whole. I've been trying to get PS2 games to work for a week now, but every time I can see the PS2 startup (and sometimes some logos) but afterwards it will just show a black screen. The PS3 did not freeze because I can still close out the game and continue on.

I can play PS1 and PS3 games, but no PS2 games seem to work (I've tried Tony Hawk Underground, GTA III VC SA). I've set the PS3 to Debug mode using Rebug Toolbox, and ensured it is using cobra, but that does not fix anything.

I've tried running hte games through webman mod, multiman and managunz, all have same result.

Should I update the CFW? Or are there any other solutions? I mainly want to play ps2 games.

Ps2classics won't work while in DEX, make sure you load ISO instead. I honestly recommend CEX instead

Heya thanks for the reply! I do actually use the ISO files, load them through webman. I've tried ps2classics but those did not work either.

I keep on reading about using DEX, but I'll try to switch to CEX tomorrow. Thanks for the tip, I'll let you know how it went.

Should Rebug 4.84 CEX suffice? Or should I move to EvilNat 4.9?
