1. Launch the SELF directly from multiMAN's file manager.

2. Or you could use webMAN MOD to mount the SELF using /mount.ps3<path-of-self>

3. Or rename the SELF as EBOOT.BIN, put it in an USRDIR and map the folder containing the USRDIR to app_home

Brilliant how do I map the USRDIR to app_home

That would be the best outcome

Example you have /dev_hdd0/blah.self
1. Create /dev_hdd0/blah/USRDIR
2. Rename /dev_hdd0/blah.self as /dev_hdd0/blah/USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN
3. Create PARAM.SFO with HG category in /dev_hdd0/blah/PARAM.SFO
4. Create ICON0.PNG in /dev_hdd0/blah/ICON0.PNG
5. Use the web command: /app_home.ps3/dev_hdd0/blah

Or /remap.ps3/app_home&to=/dev_hdd0/blah
May need to remap also /remap.ps3/app_home/PS3_GAME&to=/dev_hdd0/blah

Or put "blah" inside "dev_hdd0/game/" and rebuild database.

AFAIK If the SELF is not signed as NPDRM, it will not start. However it boots from /app_home no matter if the EBOOT is retail or NPDRM

The best way to boot it is to decrypt the SELF, rename it as EBOOT.ELF and resign it as EBOOT.BIN (NPDRM).
Then create a package with PARAM.SFO (category HG) + ICON0.PNG (it creates the XMB icon without have to rebuild the database)

Thanks for the information very helpful going to test this.

I tried replacing devflash files with resigned elfs using options 7 & 8 in TrueAncest.
I uploaded the files using filezilla via ftp an it failed to upload the files so I copied them to the PS2ISO folder instead.

When I ran filemanager it crashed the PS3 to the black 4:3 controller sync screen, I had to reset the PS3 a few times before it returned to normal, Cobra had also unloaded itself.

I returned to filemanger with Cobra renabled & copied the files sucessfully from PS2ISO into devflash overwriting the original .self files.
I returned to the XMB an ran webmanmod to start & mount a PS2 game to then load ps2_softemu.self renamed as ps2_netemu.self but it just powered off the ps3 it didn't even show the PS2Logo.
