PS3 Bypassing game update prompt?

How can I completely bypass the prompt from even showing up? Can I achieve this by editing PARAM.SFO, or is game update information stored in the database?

I specifically want to keep GTA IV (digital, Europe) on update 1.08, and I don't want to accidentally start an update to then have to reinstall the whole game. Of course, that is the last update before they cut the music in 2020 or so.

Edit: GTA IV update 1.09 doesn't remove music, it is 2.00 that is only available in some editions. Still, there are other games I want to keep old updates on.

I didn't mean to patch VSH (I will admit, that would probably be ideal), I wanted to edit the information that the system uses to determine if there is an update for the game.

Speaking of patching, is there already a patch that does this?

Well, you can turn on debug game update via Debug Settings, it'll display that a update 0.00 is found, but it won't download anything!

About the patch, you just need to break the url inside of vsh.
