PS2 can my PS2 fat Model 5001 play have burned discs?

i have a disc i ripped because it was having trouble being read but other discs work fine when i reburned the disc with ESR patcher gui it would boot it and after a moment or two it would say unable to read disc am i doing something wrong im new to hacking a ps2 and i already have a 32 opl pre-installed MC coming in for fat models

I'm using verbatim DVD+r discs

And that's where you messed it up.
Don't use +R discs EVER!!
Use -R instead.
