PS3 Cant get into safe mode

do you know if you're actually entering recovery mode, just no video?

I can only think I am in recovery mode
I do the two beep thing

you might see if you can do something simple like rebuilding the database. you'd have to do it blind, so find an image of the recovery menu, and scroll down to that option.

do note that rebuilding the database will delete any albums you've made, if that matters.

hold down the power button to turn on, then off the system. let go, press and hold again 'til you hear one beep, then two quick beeps, let go. that's how you get into safe mode. what firmware are you on?
