PS3 CECHA thinks a disk is inserted, drive is empty

Got my hands on a Japanese CECHA recently that seems to be in great overall shape with relatively low runtime. First think I noticed was the blue LED indicator flashing on startup then going solid like the console had a disk in it, but the XMB didn't show any disk and nothing would eject so I tore the console down.

Found an empty and overall clean drive with zero signs of misalignment or damage. Console was factory sealed so I know no one had been in it messing around before me. Cleaned the small sensor at the front of the drive, this made no difference. I even unplugged its tiny 2 pin connector and powered the console up to find the exact same symptoms.

Have read a few threads on here about board components failing and causing issues with the drives on these early models, but none of the symptoms really match what my console is doing. I am going to check these points once I fully tear the console down, but I was curious of there are any other things I can do before I start looking for another drive?

Here is a video I took of the console booting and doing a drive reset/force eject.

Wanted to provide an update to this issue.

I have a CECHK model console that I was unable to repair from YLOD. Looking into forum posts here and some youtube videos I realized that the bluray drive would be compatible with my CECHA. After dumping the EID Root Key to a USB drive, swapping the CECHK model bluray drive in and performing a remarry in CFW, the console works as it should!

TL;DR, this issue was caused by a faulty bluray drive daughterboard! Hopefully someone else finds this information helpful!
