After replacing the new hard disk, my ps3 does not recognize the burning disc of ps2, and I have tried many methods,The console can only function on an original 60g hard drive。I'll talk about all the ways I've tried, none of them work。

1.Replaced a hard disk, solid state 500g, after installing the cfw system, the backup disc of ps2 is not recognized and is considered a "data disc".

2.Replaced a hard disk, solid state 80g(from cechl07) after installing the cfw system, the backup disc of ps2 is not recognized and is considered a "data disc".

3.Downgraded system to 4.86 rebuglite with new 500g hard disk, the backup disc of ps2 is not recognized and is considered a "data disc".

4.Downgraded system to 4.85 cora with new 500g hard disk, the backup disc of ps2 is not recognized and is considered a "data disc".

5.System upgrade to 4.91 Beta9 cfw Evilnat cora with 500g hard disck ,the backup disc of ps2 is not recognized and is considered a "data disc".

(I'm wondering if it's because of a system settings problem?)
6.USE HDD Raw Copy Tool creat cecha 60g system img to 80g(my cechl07 hard disk) hard disk, and plug the 80g hard drive into the cecha06 console, the backup disc of ps2 is not recognized and is considered a "data disc".

So I don't know where the problem is now. My 60g hard drive is working normally so far, and it can recognize all PS2 burning DVDs and PS1 burning CDs.This problem has been bothering me for more than a month, and I am afraid to upgrade my 60g hard drive to the latest cfw.

I think cobra allows for this. I can't recall if it was possible even on cobra cfw 3.55 or not, but it's been possible for a while, just not through all the current cobra versions. I'd update to prevent headaches though.

Go to the last version of rebug, this will work, I had the same issue
It's a known issue that tends to happen if you've replaced the internal HDD with an SSD. Nobody managed to figure out why it happens though. Either replace the drive with a regular HDD or just play ISOs.

I downgraded my original working hard drive, and now it's even worse. The original 60g hard drive is no longer recognized.
I used my hdd hard drive and tried 4.84.2 REBUG REX (Cobra 8.1) CFW FINAL, but it still had no effect and data disc was still displayed.

The problem is solved. Thank you friends upstairs. Thank you very much. I wish you all a happy day and a happy game.

Yes, my mechanical hard drive has taken effect. There is really no way for solid-state drives to support recognition of burning disks.
Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate you very much.

@Charles_n_town AFAIR launching games from BD-R/RE and DVD-/+R/RW was added in Cobra 8.2. So if Im correct, then no CFW 3.55 can do that.
That's right, rebug corba8.2 can support reading burning disks, sorry for the recent practice and reply to you, thank you very much for your help

New to this, but didn't think it was the hard drive that was the problem. Have two working CECHA01 (frank-mod 40nm) with 1 TB SSD. None of them work with PS2 backup discs. But when I put back original HDD (60 GB) it works fine. Also does not work with 40GB HDD or 250GB HDD. Only with originals HDD. Don't have an extra 60GB HDD to try with - if it's the exact size that matters. Would be interesting to try that. Is this something that will be fixed anytime soon?

I'm not sure, as I've reinstalled a lot of things, but it seems I'm having a similar problem: I can't run burned PS1 discs on [Evilnat 4.91b13 + 1TB SSD]. Original blacks run fine, ISO's run fine. Is it really an SSD issue?

I tried switching Cobra to Debug version as mentioned in another thread, it didn't help. If I remember correctly, my last good configuration was [Evilnat 4.88.2 + HDD 1TB].

This seems to be related: ./threads/data-disc-issue-when-sshd-is-installed-psx-ps2-backups.25880/

Now I'm waiting for Raw Copy from 1TB SSD to 1TB HDD to check, ~5 hours left...

Unfortunately this happens the moment a ssd is installed. I have a model with 1.75tb hdd and it works fine with the backup psx/ps2 discs, I have also had a 1tb hdd which worked beforehand.

I've tried a samsung 870 evo ssd, crucial mx 500 ssd and a cheap kingston ssd, no matter which ssd it just won't work unfortunately, even with a sshd like the Seagate firecuda or the momentus sshd, it'll always see backups as data discs sadly.

Even going back to the original cobra 7.0 with rogero 4.46 cfw this issue happens.

This is funny, but yep, I can confirm that after byte-by-byte copying from SSD to HDD, the written discs work again. I hope the cool guys with nice green nicknames can figure out what magic is this.

By the way, I have just registered here although I have been reading these forums for a long time and all this time I wanted to say thank you to Berion, Aldos and others from whom I learn so many useful and interesting things and who have done so much for PS.
