CFW for PS3 Super Slim?

Hi, I am new to this forum and new to PS3 jailbreaking in general. I have a PS3 Super Slim with HEN installed and it has been working great. I was just wondering if there will ever be a CFW release for the console.

So I wanted to know if there were any active development going on for the 3000 and 4000 series PS3s. I have read @MikeM64 's write-up on the Teensy-in-the-Middle exploit and that was cool but that was all I could find. So I am starting this thread to maybe re-spark conversation about this topic.

There's still some active research here and there but to my knowledge, CFWs are not on the cards for 3xxx/4xxx anytime soon

ECDSA is in place properly now. They had such blind faith in their system instead of the private key being random they were both static so math cracked the "key" once we had an entry point it was all history then.

Since then Sony made the mtldr2 which stands behind the new private key. ECDSA when properly used as it is now has proven to be secure. They couldn't fully black list older keys so any system that shipped with 3.60 is behind this wall.

While it would be nice the reality is it's a huge under taking when there are a ton of hackable systems and HEN is fine for 95% of CFW needs and uses of the user base.

Also probably most researchers have moved on to PS4 and PS5.

Ah well, I guess HEN works fine. I was hoping that maybe I could use an overclocked CFW soon but I guess that day is a llloooonnnggg while away.

Thanks for the reponses yall.

Overclocked firmwares don't really do much 95% of the time. So you aren't missing anything special there.

Yeah maybe using OC wouldn't be the best thing. I just wanted to try out CFW specific mods and stuff and maybe even use the DEX firmware or use other OS. I mainly wanted to use a noBD CFW cuz my BD is broken so yeah.

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, the PlayStation 3 Super Slim models (CECH-3000 and CECH-4000 series) are not compatible with Custom Firmware (CFW). The Super Slim models have additional security measures that make it difficult to install CFW directly. However, the PS3 Super Slim models can still be jailbroken using HEN (Homebrew Enabler) or HAN (Homebrew Enabler for non-CFW compatible models). These methods allow you to run homebrew applications and backups on your PS3 without installing CFW.
