PS3 [CFW] Going from 4.92 EvilNat to NoBD possible?

So I'm currently on 4.92 EvilNat CFW. My Bluetooth and Blu-Ray drives still currently work, but I also know there can be some pretty significant issues if they break down later.

I know there's versions of EvilNat that bypass those, but I'm already on the firmware. Is it possible to go from regular CFW to a NoBD version? Either as is or after a newer version or something. I'm currently on 4.92 EvilNat PEX for reference and mainly just want to know as a potential futureproof.

in case any of your hardware fails you can just install the variant you need AFTER they die, not before.

No. As long as your console already has CFW you can install any other CFW. If you want to prepare for a worst case scenario you can use the debug XMB and move the firmwares you want to have "just in case" to dev_hdd0/updater/XX (XX being folders called 00, 01, 02 and so on, only 1 firmware per folder, you can rename the files to whatever you want, even without the PUP extension) and use " System Update > ★ Update via System Storage", then choose whatever you want to install. Remember that if you are runnning DEX kernel you can only update to DEX CFW, same for CEX.

I'm currently running PEX so for that one I'd assume it's based on whatever your running it as, or else just making sure it's a PEX version.

PEX and D-PEX are the exact same firmware with different targetID (for CEX and DEX, respectively). if you fool around too much converting from cex to dex and you are affraid something bad would happen to your hardware, i'd suggest you have both versions at your disposal

Ah okay. I think my settings are still mostly CEX based. I'll have to double check but I hadn't messed with any DEX kernel settings. I just used PEX instead of P-DEX when getting it setup.
