CFW issue

So, I've recently tried to add CFW to my ps3 when it's version still was 4.90 and it did not work as whenever I try to do the update, it gives me a data is corrupt error, and even in recovery mode. I then updated my ps3 to 4.91, still the same issue. After that, I was told to update my ps3 from OFW to HFW to increase the chances of the CFW to work. After having updated to HFW from OFW without any issues, I followed marioman2011's YouTube Tutorial on how to jailbreak my ps3 and when I got to the verifying the dump part, it gave me some warnings I never ever had before having HFW (except for the SKU IDENTIFICATION warning which I had before having HFW and I had been told that it was completely normal). After HFW, I got these weird SDK versions and ROS warnings. I hope someone can find the solution

You can't install CFW over OFW or HFW. You need to apply a patch on the flash memory in order to enable the CFW update install.

BgToolset will check if your console is CFW capable before applying the patch.

Follow MrMario's tutorial:

So from what I understood, I should skip to the patching part in the tutorial before doing the steps before? And I've already tried this tutorial but the person didn't allow me to proceed to the patching part, they only told me to create a thread here after I got to 21:42 in the video.

No. You must patch the flash memory in order to install CFW. It's mandatory.

But I was told that BEFORE getting CFW, I need to get my core OS fixed which I don't really understand. I never had the warnings I talked about in the post.

From YOUR original post:

Trying to install CFW over OFW without the patch will result in the infamous data corrupt error.

I then updated my ps3 to 4.91, still the same issue. After that, I was told to update my ps3 from OFW to HFW to increase the chances of the CFW to work.

Who told you that is mistaken. Installing OFW or HFW will not increase the chances of CFW to work. It will remove the flash memory patch altogether.

There is no need to install HFW over OFW, only to install HEN (which is unrelated to CFW).

So, I repeat, you can't install CFW until you patch the flash memory first.
