PS3 CFW without PC?

Is there away to apply CFW to a ps3 with just a USB,but have the ps3 hooked up to wifi... I've added HFW (hen) On my fat cechp01 that way, but i want cfw but i dont have the proper equipment,so just wondering if I can add cfw with a old 4.4.1 (kitkat) tablet or a chromebook that can't hook up to wifi,if not no worrys
 
Thank you I've been looking around on the web on how to,but most tutorials say you need rofus and other programs to prep the update.pup file and the usb,but my usb is already prepared for hen but do i need to format it. Or replace the hen update file.or better question can I slam CFW on a ps3 with a chromebook,I used a chromebook to add HFW

You do not need any additional software to prepare anything.
Your thumb drive only needs to have FAT32 file system on it.
A CFW PS3UPDAT.PUP needs to be in PS3 -> UPDATE folder (e.g. F:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP).

To transfer data (PS3UPDAT.PUP) from a phone, tablet, etc you can use USB On-The-Go (USB OTG) adapter that costs a few bucks.

I heard about the otg way but my old tablet can't root for some reason,but was wondering if its as easy as hen,slap the update.pup file in th3 up date file,mr mario said that the toolset will be doing the heavy flash stuff but I still need to finish watching the video
 
uninstall hen from the hfw tools menu on xmb. reboot and use the toolset.

you only need a pc if you want to check your dump. SAVE the dump.

my written guide is HERE. @MrMario2011 is highly recommended, but after watching the video, having a short, written list in the moment is easier than searching a video sometimes. good luck!

You do not need to have root "privileges" to connect anything through USB OTG.
When you connect any flash drive through USB OTG it should be shown as additional drive.
Just download any file to e.g. Download folder on internal memory, then move it to a USB device.
Or download files strait to a flash drive.

  • memory card reader
  • mouse
  • keyboard
  • camera

Anyway since you have Chromebook you do not need to use a USB OTG adapter.

BTW what model of PS3 do you exactly have (CECH-XXXX)?

I have a cechp01,it said on the toolset that I can put CfW on it,but now I need to save my game data from hen but thats a couple taps away

And I'd definitely check that out cuznyou basically helped me put hen on it in the first place,soo thanks man
