PS4 CUH 72xx only compatible with 72xx and 71xx blu ray drives?

I'm looking for a future blu ray replacement for my PS4pro CUH 72xx series. I does still read discs but it takes long.

I came across a couple of replacement drives but I noticed that some 71xx and 72xx do seem to use a newer drive (with a silver ribbon cable).

Is it indeed true that 70xx and some 71xx drives with the white ribbon cable are not compatible with the 72xx series?

Furthermore will an US drive (7215B) work on an Europeans PS4Pro (7216B)?

I've read this on the advertisement for a 72xx drive : "Please do a visual check as the CUH-71 series was also manufactured with a white laser to motherboard ribbon cable (the larger cable). If your existing drive has a white laser to motherboard ribbon cable then this drive IS NOT compatible"

I really hope someone has a definitive answer, since I would think that a 7000 series blu ray drive should also work on a later revision?

PS4 Pros disc drives are not compatible with each other. It all comes down to the different pinout used on the motor controller IC on the PS4 pro motherboard.

The disc spindle/spinning motor inside of the disc drive must stay with the same PS4 Pro model it came with.

I know this from experience having tried it and blew a motherboard fuse.

Thank you very much for your detailed answer!

One last question, will a laser replacement (KES-496a) (or a complete laser deck with motor rail KEM-496aaa) be compatible with the 72xx PRO? Since I don't see a specific listing for the 72xx laser decks.

only laser assemblies i know for a fact that are compatible are KEM496AAA and KEM490A. this is only due to my own testing using a donor 2115b(KEM496AAA) with a burnt lazer, another ps4 fat(good bluray drive, KEM490A).

to be specific, the whole rail, spindle, and eye horizontal adjust wormgear assembly.

and to add to my previous post the laser assembly still functions without flaw to this day. to be specific i took the laser assembly from the old phat ps4 and put it into the model 2115b ps4.
