I'm looking for a future blu ray replacement for my PS4pro CUH 72xx series. I does still read discs but it takes long.
I came across a couple of replacement drives but I noticed that some 71xx and 72xx do seem to use a newer drive (with a silver ribbon cable).
Is it indeed true that 70xx and some 71xx drives with the white ribbon cable are not compatible with the 72xx series?
Furthermore will an US drive (7215B) work on an Europeans PS4Pro (7216B)?
I've read this on the advertisement for a 72xx drive : "Please do a visual check as the CUH-71 series was also manufactured with a white laser to motherboard ribbon cable (the larger cable). If your existing drive has a white laser to motherboard ribbon cable then this drive IS NOT compatible"
I really hope someone has a definitive answer, since I would think that a 7000 series blu ray drive should also work on a later revision?
