thanks, should have checked that before
that's the replacement icon I made, maybe someone wants it (I wanted to remove the white translucent background and make the disc fit the image dimensions)
edit: added a small reflection
It looks very nice. I see you made it from scratch. I don't know how much time you invested making it, but the official icon that I use was made in 5 minutes or less.
There is a story behind the icon, the name and the project itself:
In 2013, I wanted to create native tools for PS3, but I didn't have much experience with C/C++. I wanted to modify multiMAN, but it was too large and advanced for me. Iris Manager was more simple to understand, but had many things that I didn't like (including the icon). So I started to change Iris Manager to learn and practice C/C++. I wanted that it behave like multiMAN. So initially I named the project "Iris Manager Mod" and changed the original color of the icon from brown/gold to blue.
Estwald wanted that the forks use a different name from the original. So I renamed the project to IRISMAN. It was short, referenced the original project and multiMAN at the same time. Some users in ps3hax forum suggested that it was also a reference to the administrator of that site at the time (Greg who is irishman). But it was a coincidence. Anyway my favorite irishman is
@DeViL303
With a new name, I was forced to change the icon. I took me just
5 minutes to design it. I needed something done quickly in Jasc PaintShop Pro 9.
First, I wanted that the new icon looked modern and technological. Not feminine like the original icon.
Therefore I used the PhatBoy Slim font for refence to PS3. The line across the name referenced the laser beam. It cuts the name in 2 part. I moved down the top part to make it look a different font. In that font the name is written "irisMAN" like multiMAN.
I wanted a translucent background because I wanted to see the XMB waves passing behind the icon.
Also very few games used translucent icons.
The rounded corners pointing to the right is a reference to an arrow going to the future.
The disc is a reference to the main purpose of a backup manager (manage disc backups).
The blue color is a reference to bluray and the "mod" icon. It's on the left side to follow the "arrow" shape.
The text is not above the disc to avoid lines that difficult the reading of the name.
I added a shadow to the name to increase the contrast of the white letters with the background.
The reflection is basically the name flipped vertically with transparency added. This is mainly a reference to the reflection used in the coverflow mode.
