PS3 Delid for Slim 25xx in EU

Hey all, I made an account here to hopefully get some assistance with my Slim 25xx PS3. I got it for pretty cheap with some damage to the plastic shell, replaced the shell, dedusted the fan etc and repasted with MX6 (made sure to put enough paste).

Unfortunately while the CPU temps look fine, there's a pretty big difference with the RSX (about 8/9 °C higher on average than the CPU in demanding games, needs 50% fan to stay below 68 °C in TLOU), which from my understanding is due to the thermal paste under the IHS of the RSX being degraded.

Is there anyone located in the EU who is comfortable/has experience with Slim RSX delids? Thanks!

Not necessarily. That difference could be from bad heatsink contact. It's not recommended to delid Slim or SuperSlim PS3s.

Would that mean it was deformed from the factory? If so i assume i would have to find a replacement heatsink?

EDIT: for what it's worth I took these pics:

My application was more or less like this (probably more than needed but played it safe):

Some slim heatsinks do come bowed from the factory, if you've repasted and are still seeing poor temps it might be worth checking the GPU heatsink and IHS to see if its making good contact and is actually flat

A good way to test this is to see if light shines through the bottom of a razor blade on either surface, if theres a gap below the razor then the heatsink or IHS is bad. My 2002a has a bowed cell heatsink and I havent been bothered to get it replaced, it was never opened before so its a factory defect

So I sent it to NSC Modz in Germany who checked/polished the heatsink for unevenness and delidded both chips. The temperature difference seems to still be there after the console fully heats up but the fans are much more bearable (they stay locked at the minimum of 32% for non demanding games, or climb to 35%-38% for demanding ones instead of 50% or so). It also takes a much longer time to heat up, 30 minutes vs around half that time. I'd say I'm satisfied now, thanks to everyone for your advice.
(fwiw I overclocked the rsx now but I can' t really notice any difference in temps with the stock clocks, this was also the case before this job was done).

Glad you're satisfied with your PS3 and got everything worked out, the the slim has the reliable RSX btw so you can run it at syscon fan speeds with 0 risk if you want to make your console even quieter
