I think I've narrowed it down to a capacitor failing as for the past couple of days the console has been working fantastically.
Today however I was navigating the xmb and the key tone went from the sharp sounding tick tick tick to a sound akin to batteries running out as the sound faded away to silence.
Do the nec/tokin caps have anything to do with filtering output from the cpu or gpu or are they strictly there as filtered power for the chips?
