PS3 Disable PS3 HDD head parking?

Does anyone know how to disable head parking on the PS3 internal hard drive?
It's making head parking sounds usually every few seconds! It's going to kill the drive over time! :suspicion:
And it's annoying. Would prefer to solve this maybe with a setting on the PS3 itself or on a Windows PC if necessary
if the settings carry over to the PS3. Hopefully won't have to use SATA cables or Linux?

You cannot turn off head parking but you can change intervals value by hdparm. And you probably will need direct SATA connection because eg. USB controllers, does not translating all ata commands.

You should use Linux for that because:
  • hdparm isn't reliable on Windows
  • Windows is aggressive and can overwrite PS3PT (so called: disk initialize) without user asking which some ppl claiming (never happen to me BTW). By Disk Initialize, it means write MBR or GPT, overwriting in the process crucial PS3 data; because for Windows, disk is just empty.
