Disappointed With Hen 3.0 Its broken

I have been using psxploit since han dropped. Hen is amazing. I stayed on 2.3.1 until 2 nights ago when i decided to update. Worst decision i ever made. First off, you cant enable hen the way you could before. The option under games doesnt work just infinitely spins, not even freeze or reboot just spins. Pressing circle shows the xmb wave with nothing on it. I found a workaround as last year i saved the hen enabler webpage. So i tried that. Works flawless. 10 seconds max. But now i just realized after updating. Ps3 no longer reads any usb drives. So my harddrive full of games is now useless. Tried everything. Webman mod throws an error trying to mount and multiman shows no games. File manager doesnt show the drive anymore either. Plugged it into my pc and everything is fine. After updating my custom coldboot reset, have to jump through hoops to enable hen and now 17 games are unplayable. Is there a way i can go back to 2.3.1 without reinstalling hfw? I dont want to lose all my stuff all over again. This is ridiculous. I have been happy using hen for a long time now and only updated because i thought maybe the occasional freeze would fix. But no. it freezes even more now and only the games backedup to my local drive are able to mount.. so.. one game.. Im really shocked. Also what happened to this website? i came back 2 days ago to find a completely bugged out laggy adridden website. Took me 25 minutes to login after it telling me my user didnt exist. So i had to use my older account i almost forgot i had. Clicking on a forum opens a completely different thread and everytime you go to a new page there is an ad that takes up the entire border for a couple minutes before disappearing. Ads are also at the footer, header. Everywhere. What is happening to this place?
 
Update. I was logged in to make the thread. Trying to post it gave me an error requesting me to sign in. I did. I signed in even though i was already signed in. Wth?
 
Forums need servers, servers need money, ads make the money, money pays the bills.

As for your HEN problem...
It seems as though there's something your end that's failing to enable HEN as many users, including myself, haven't run into this problem.

Its probs best to start from scratch by reinstalling OFW then HFW and reinstalling HEN.
Your games won't be affected by this and will stay on your HDD.

I understand the ad logic but they make the site nearly impossible to navigate.

Also i makeshifted some steps i used to somewhat fix some of it.
Working on trying to fix the mess that 3.0 update caused.
so far these are my steps.
1. browser navigate to "http://ps3xploit(dot)com/hen/enabler/"
2. ps3xploit(dot)com - Hen section - Hen installer pkg - set the prompt to hdd0/packages and press start.
will keep updating with progress

3. Package Manager - System Storage - latest hen installer pkg.
4. Reboot
4A. notice half the xml mods are gone.
5. Test Default Enabler.
6. Success
7. Test harddrive access
i will let you know if the harddrive reads soon..

Still cant read any flash drives or externals. Tried both ports..

multiman had an update. installing it now, one of the changelogs said fixed hen external hdd so im wondering if that is the problem

update: nope. Im about to try to change my format of the partition and then test then change it back. It was working before updating. Im booting up my pc again right now.

The XML mods would have been replaced with HENs category_game.xml, which doesn't contain those mods.

Reinstalling mods should fix
 
reinstall hfw and hen 3.0 but dont install any mods or even hen/han toolboxes. try it like its meant to run...then add things one by one.

I am thinking somehow the external is the issue. Idk y. Its formatted fat32, was working 3 days ago. Last time i had to reinstall hfw it bricked me and i had to redo ofw, then factory reset losing everything and then had to reinstall hfw, then hen, and it was just a total nightmare... also if my ps3 wont read usb drives how am i going to reinstall hfw?

it doesnt shut me down, just doesnt show any games. Ps3 acts like the external doesnt exist

so ps3 detects hfw update file but then gives an error occurred during copy operation after agreeing to the terms
I am probably going to have to factory reset n lose everything again...

managed to get it to copy the update data. apparently system update is the only place that detected the drive. After the error occurred i rebooted and tried again. it is installing hfw now.. hopefully things get better after it finishes

It is the same hfw file i originally used, on the external harddrive not a flash drive. it just rebooted so hold on one sec

running hen installer. the package manager is gone, everything looks vanilla, trying to install hen from the site. idk if it means anything but it is flooded with errors. String variable could not be located in range. Then says string data found and keeps bouncing between them. i dont remember that from installing before but it says it initialized

ok, hen is installing.. im crossing my fingers this fixes with minimal damage. last time i had to reinstall hfw my console ended up bricked and i had to boot into recovery reinstall ofw, kept throwing errors in the xmb and i ended up factory resetting.. hoping it isnt too bad this time

It is working! I have no idea what caused all that trouble after i updated though. Seems strange that i was the only one experiencing it. But then again i skipped a few updates. I installed 2.3.1 when it came out and didnt update until 2-3 days ago so who knows. Thanks for the help!

Might have been an XML mod that you installed.... Great that everything is working now though.

run it a while without mods and make sure no problems. then add a mod and test for a while before adding another. han toolbox support was dropped at some time. you may have had something that conflicted the first time you installed 3.0
 
UPDATE: i havent done any xml mods i havent installed anything new. Usb worked all day yesterday. This morning it did too. I just tried to mount a game a few minutes ago and it is doing the same thing as before. I am so confused. I havent changed anything. It worked yesterday aand this morning and now it wont. I have rebooted a few times. still same problem.
Homebrew applications dont see the drive and neither does the music tabs or any other ones..
 
If you done absolutely nothing with software, then the next step is hardware...

You mentioned you had trouble installing HFW but without any changes it worked... It could be that the USB has a fault...?
 
HEN 3.0.0 works perfectly. You maybe do something wrong. If ps3 does not see flash memory, you can try formatting. Download the rufus program, choose your flash memory and make the settings as in the picture and press "START" button.

After that create new text folder, rename to "boot_plugins.txt" and put your root of the flash drive.

After that remove flash drive your computer and put on right usb port(Nearest of the Blu-ray drive) of PS3. Turn on your PS3 and come to the Video tab on the XMB screen. Flash memory should look like this:

If you don't see you flash drive unplug and plug again. If not, it means that the usb ports are faulty. If it is visible, when you activate HEN, WebMAN will work without plugin. These kinds of problems generally occur from these plugins.
