PS3 Doubt about the fan speed

Hi, I'm new around here and this is my first thread so sorry if I make mistakes or am in the wrong category

I am also not a native English speaker so I do my best

So ... to the topic. A few days ago after 8 years of use (and two of starting to use HFW) I cleaned my ps3 super Slim and changed the thermal paste( got a Artic MX-4)

Yesterday I started using it again and I could see temperatures of 47°-49° (I think they are good). But I realized that it was because I had the fan still on 40% (I had put it at that speed a few months ago because the temperature was rising)

So my question is, now with the new thermal paste and the clean console. Is it necessary to keep the fan at 40% to make sure it always stays fresh? What are the risks of having the fan at that speed?

At the moment I have only played GoW ghost of Sparta after cleaning so I do not know how the console will react with more demanding games

I would really appreciate your help.

You should be able to lower the fan speed.
Check the temps after 15mn of gaming with a demanding game like TLOUS.
Tune the fan settings to keep the max temp under 70C.

Thank you so much

So as long as it is below 70 ° my console will be fine?

I was very worried and I believed that 50 or more was already too much

Fundamentally the lower the temperature the better but you also need to keep the noise at acceptable levels.
Automatic shutdown temperature is around 80/82C.
We generally consider that chip temps < 70C are fine.

Noise in general is not a problem for me. My main question with the fan was what risks it could have at 40%. If there are not many risks and I can leave it to keep the console as cool as possible it would be preferable

There is no risk at all in keeping the fan at 40%. If the noise does not bother you, in theory you could even set the fan at 90 or 100%, there would still be no risk..
Just to clarify, the risks we are talking about here relate only to the chips & electronic components in general, not to the fan, if a fan dies, it's cheap to buy & easy to swap whereas fixing a chip related issue is usually a pure PiTA.

Thank you for your answers. So like I said I'll leave it at 40% to keep the console as cool as I can. so it will last me a few more years at least.
