Hey there.

I'm trying to patch GTA:SA with ESR but after I select the.iso an error box pops up stating that it couldn't open the file.

What can be done to resolve this?

Do you also have this problem with other games (in ISO)?
Are you 100% sure that you want to patch .iso not .rar, .7z, .zip...?

I'm 100% sure that I want to patch the .iso.

I did not try with other games yet but I'll try to find something.

make sure the file is not read-only. try putting the iso and program in a folder without spaces in the name and no spaces in the iso filename.

Hmm, it seems like it was maybe corrupted or something. I re-downloaded the .iso and it works now.

Thanks guys

There are pirate releases that doesn't have UDF, only ISO9660 (for some, unknown reason...). Such disc images cannot be patched by ESR Disc Patchers. Literally all original games can be patched.

So until it not something like read only attrib or limited access by this user to file, it sounds like warez. ;p

I'm 100% sure that I want to patch the .iso.
Then who should be sure?
  • If You booting game via ESR, You must patch disc image by ESR Disc Patcher.
  • If You booting game as FreeDVDBoot, You must patch disc image by FreeDVDBoot ESR Patcher Gui.
  • If You booting game on console hacked by MechaconPwn and turned it into QA/DEX, You must patch disc image by Master Disc Patcher.
  • If You booting game on console with modchip, You don't need any patching.
