ESR unable to boot game thats is compatible

using a 90k slim ps2 with shadow tower abyss that has been patched with FDVDB_ESR_Patcher. when powering on the ps2, it shows the sony computer entertainment screen then jitters a sec then goes black. when i use FREEDVDBOOT to access my FMCB mem card, where ESR is. i insert my burned and patched ST:A game then click ESR. the color splash shows on the screen then goes black and thats it.

i used Verbatim DVD-R 4.7GB. I burned the disc at the lowest supported speed which i believe was 4x.

Also verify the ISO MD5 with redump.org (clean iso obviously, before FDVD/ESR patching).
