PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Hi everyone someone know the states of syscon ? For example i am in 23 state and the full error is 232102(I know what 2102 means) before the 232102 i was in 231002 I fix this by replacing all necs(rsx only) with tantalyzer caps and now I am in 23 state but in 2102 error ,console has 13 days on becount with sem-001 motherboard ,i check all filters caps with continuity and also the rsx necs pads has 5ohm and the cell necs pads has 4.7ohm,I think the 23 state is too soon error

Hey, I fixed another consoles with errors below, it could be helpful for someone:
A0203010 - DYN001 motherboard, fuse 6301 was bad, after replacing console boots perfectly
A0313032 - COK002, SEM001 - In my cases this error appears when some resistor next to IC6304 is faulty. If you got this error, check 1.5V_YC_RC_VDDA line. I didn't have 1.5V, but after replacement resistors it was okay.
I didn't fix the error 4441. After replacing Cell, syscon and ram, error was still there, so I decided to replace southbridge and still nothing, this will be my donor board.
Now I have some interesting case in SEM 001 board. Board had error 4411, so I decided to reflow chips to see if it will work. It works, but freezes. I reballed rsx and it runs okay in safe mode, but it freezes in XMB, cell was also reballed, but I made a mistake, and I think balls wasn't soldered properly. It was glod and shutting down after 20 seconds. In bringup I saw 2002 XDR didn't initialize, so I decided to reball Cell again, and now I have error that I didn't see anywhere:

have an issue here with a CECH-2004B.
i have to attempt starting it multiple times until it finally starts. the errlog i have is the following:
Caps for rsx are rusty. If you want to knock them out and add some tantalizers. You are developer and I assume you have to send it someone to fix it?

Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk

Can you show me which ones?
This ones with NEC TOKIN near the RSX. There are 4 NEC's, two on bottom side, two on top side of the board. You can try change 1 NEC on bottom side of the board for 4 tantalum capacitors, and see if this problem will appear again.

Hi to all, (sorry for my english)
Please help me to understand what's happening with my PS3 FAT CECHK03 (DIA-002 mobo). It disconnects/ shuts down after 20-25 minutes no meter what I do , watching movie or playing game or just seating idle in XMB , the temperature is ok around 50-67"C . I've installed PS3AdvancedToolSet and extracted syscon errors log a few times:

RSX chip was reballed long time ago, CELL wasn't ever reballed.
Yesterday i changed nec/tokins with tantalum capacitors (yellows ones 477J 16pcs instead of 4pcs nec/tokins)) all from backside of mobo(not from chips side) for both cell and rsx chips but anyway my console still disconects / freezing after 20-30 minutes :(
any help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Try to unistall all homebrew apps and install again cfw. I have read that homebrew apps caused a soft conflict and PS3 had 1601 and 1701 error. That person WHO unistalled all homebrew apps wrote that this problem never come back so give it a try.

Hi , thanks for suggestion, with another words - if i will install an OFW or HybridFW it will be more closer to understand if it is a software issue ?

I had this problem in the past, this error 1601 followed by 1701. It occurred only when I was in an XMB - after 1/2 minutes my console was freezing and then YLOD. So the solution in my case was removing all homebrew applications, then, via irisman, removed all remaining leftovers after uninstalling apps (some temp/cache/config files) and then proceeded with updating the CFW from 4.89 to 4.90. After that reinstall and installing homebrew apps again, I haven't experienced YLOD anymore. I hope it will help also in your case!

Hi , unfortunately it's not my case :( I've not remove all homebrew apps I even installed new clean HDD(SSD) and reinstalled CFW 4.90 Evilnat (on 4.89 Evilnat) and at the end the same bad result - mobo freezing and disconects after ~30min with same syscon's erroes 1601 and 1701 :( i'm really upset - it seems CELL issue is present - needs reballing ...

either it the clock generator or cell about to say bye-bye

That is quite an assumption . In reality this could be anything from a faulty Hard drive to BGA to dying RSX, to any other issues. If Cell died, it wouldn't even be getting to the 1701 stage to set the errors. in my opinion the fact that it can flag these errors only proves it's functioning fine.

Here I had a 1701 error among others and it had nothing to do with Cell in the end.

You are ignoring that your RSX has been reballed once, so it was faulty before. It's possible it needs replacement, not a reball. These errors can be caused by a variety of things, but it doesn't mean Cell specifically is at fault. All it does is report the errors.

Hello everyone,

Just got my hand on a CECHK03 FAT PS3.

As soon as it get power, there is 3 beep, red light blinking forever, it does this even without touching the power button.

I've connected to the syscon, the only error i see is A0801001.
It was hard to connect because the console try to power itself on, so everytime is ask for ERRORLOG GET X, I had F000003 error; for unauthorized.

When I go to the older error, it's only FFFFFF so it's blank.

Is there someone that have a clue on this ? Faulty tokin, short circuit somewhere ?

The motherboard is a DIA-002.

This console has never been worked on.

thanks

Hi ,DeadEnd ! Thanks for your info, especially for YouTube link that you gave me to watch , after that i realized that, and I have the same issues with BD drive (it cannot takes/eject the disks) but i ignored that ... hmm ... -this could be the solution ! but i don't have yet those two bipolar transistors as a spare parts to change them (i need to order them from ebay or aliexpress) but meanwhile maybe - I can disconnect the BD Drive from console and update with noBD firmware (CFW Evilnat 4.90 CEX [NoBD] )? What You think about that ?

That's also a potential solution - this noBD FW hasn't been created for no reason. Because if you unplug the BD drive and try to mount a specific game, it will not be possible (no disc will pop up in Games section), because for mounting games the BD electronics is responsible for, so this noBD FW somehow circumvents it. In your case it also might be the reason that the faulty electronic board might cause the YLOD. At least you don't risk anything by installing the noBD FW version, so I think give it a try!

Brilliant explanation and indeed tricky to find out. Should have give the Blu-ray disc a medal. Thanks for the video!
