I bought this PS3 over 1 year ago, for 80€, and used it regularly for ps2 and ps3 games.

A few weeks ago I wanted to check when this Console was manufactured and to my suprise the Datacode said "8C" which would mean production occured betwenn July and September 2008, even though the CECHC was produced until September 2007. The Seal is unbroken I might add.

I asked on reddit, and people were telling me that this could be very well be a 65nm frankie. Of course it could also be a defective Blue-Ray Drive that was replaced, but one could hope :tranquillity:

I wanted some clarification and installed CFW on it. First the runtime of the console is very low:

Bringup Count: 733, Shutdown Count: 713
Runtime: 45 Days, 4 Hours, 24 Minutes, 54 Seconds

Then I dumped the lvl1 dumb on a USB drive. Someone on reddit told me to look for the Substring 500/650 and I searched for it on Notepad++. And discovered this:
XtSXgHC

It says rsx40 which was very suprising for me.

For testing I played Gran Turismo 6 for over 1 hour. The PS3 stayed very quite and these were the results:
- CPU: 67°C / 152°F
- RSX: 53°C / 127°F
- Fan Speed 30% (Controlled by Syscon)

I jailbroke it only to play burned "backups" of my games but this is a cool discovery guess I'll take it :flustered:

It seems that the thermal profile has been rewritten, since at such temperatures the fan speed cannot be 30%

I'll have to add, this was not the fan speed in game, it was the fan speed when I exited. Fan speed in game is probably at 37% or 40%.

Could you explain what you by the thermal profile has been rewritten? Sounds very interesting :)

Very interesting, thanks for the link. The 40nm was not designed with the fat model in mind, does that mean the Thermal profile on sony frankenstein models is a custom one, specially written for fat models? I can't imagine a Fat model using the same profile as a super slim, because of the completely different structure
