PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

Ask M4j0r to patch syscon.
Add powerupcase or something that tells you what is enabled or disable. B models have Wi-Fi disable but network should work unless something wrong on hw side
Command of powerupcase need to run after he boot unit
Also think it is somewhere in forum I got inspired once for addresses but didn't got time or parts to test. Something about cech b cell swap

Felix, a friend of mine, did an experiment after realizing that his Cech b's CELL was beyond repair due to oxidation of the pads. instead of just changing the board for one from a cech A, he replaced both the damaged cell and the nand and the syscon from cech a to b, to top it off he made a frankie with a 65 rsx... the whole procedure was a success except that it doesn't work via cable or network, the bluetooth works after 5 minutes of trying to connect.... have you ever come across a case like this in Frankie's Frankie?

Bluetooth issue sounds like a possible problem with the wifi/bluetooth module ribbon cable. I had some of them die on me and lost bluetooth. But wait, there's no wifi on cechb boards. Even though you have installed syscon and new nand, are you sure the cechb board otherwise is 'ready' for the full wifi functionality? According to this, it may be missing some of the connections...

Im thinking about sending my CECHB00 to a frankie service, but first wanted to check the error codes the system throws to be sure that a frankie mod will fix my issue. and now Im a bit confused. but first a screenshot of PS3 Tool Set as the ps3 will turn on on XMB like normal even on ps1 and ps2 emulation it runs like a yong lady ^^ only in ps3 games the ps3 will shutdown and beep. after it I can directly turn she on again and she starts workign fine with prompting not correctly turnd off file system check bla bla blob. it runs hopurs and hours without an issue excpect i start a ps3 game it will ylod after some minutes. some quicker with high demanding games like TLOU compared to launch title games but it will both ylod. but only in ps3 games tho.

Ps3 toolset nearly only shows 1001 errors expect one and only 1002, does not sounds like classic RSX die ball failure? isn't this mostly 3xxx errors?

But what confuses me a bit are the time stamps of this errors. I managed to YLOD a few minutes ago just to have an current error but it only shows errors from 2005 to 2019. why isn't it showing the error from few minuts ago? is this right?

and As I read the PS3 dev wiki first before posting here (I always try solving shiat by my own first) the ps3 wiki sais the 1001 eror is not always a bad issue and also can be seen on fine working systems when you pull the plug often without shutting down propperly this could also throw a 1001 but ONLY in combination with unexpected shutdowns this can be nec tokins on cell side.

To be sure it is not the PSU delivering unstable power i swaped out the PSU from my CECHC04 that is working fine never had any issues, but all the same. but I thought the "new" disclousure sais nec tokins are great that nec tokin swap stuff is dumb it is the rsx. so what is phase now?! xD Im maximised confuses.

would it be worth it to install tantalizers first befor trying the frankie? would be way cheaper ^^

Would be glad for any help :)

Although we know that the WiFi circuit must be completed, which is causing problems and that the console cannot even connect to the internet via cable, when we make an attempt we receive an error message 80020102... even when we change cell and nand the connection via cable should work perfectly right? We are currently reviewing the board to find any problems that could be preventing this connection... once this problem is resolved, we will move on to complete the WiFi circuit and try the tips you gave me, thank you very much guys

Error dates in syscon are usually incorrect, you need to recreate ylod situation at least twice and compare the logs side by side. The "new" error will then show up.

At this point your console only needs tantalizers indeed. Not related to RSX at the moment.

That sounds great than I will get me some tantalizers and install them. If my rsx fails some day I can get it frankied still, already got the tantalizers. I think that is the best option for me now.

This ps3 got 185day of power on. Thats not bad for a launch ps3. My slim i bought in 2010 got 220day already. :D

Hi guys. Just completed my first frankestein mod on a cok-002, 40nm rsx installed.. btw i have no audio coming from hdmi with ps2 games, also ps3 menu (scrolling menu settings) has no audio. Audio works great with ps3 games.. could be a bad rsx related? Thanks

Simple and short update. I installed the tantalizers equiped with 3 tantal and 6 MLCC caps and its now again working like a beauty. No 1001/2 no more.

but I ordered another CECHA00 this time. this one will get the complete set, it will get the Frankie, all 8 tantalizers, the best PSU for this model, and the 17 Blade Fan. Anything else I should do?

IRC hdmi chip deals with audio as well. Is audio working coming through a regular cable?

hi guys, I would like to carry out the 40 Nm RSX gearbox, when reading the Syscon it gives me error A0203010, it seems like a CELL error, can you give me some advice on where to start the repair?

Start by checking the CELL for damage (specifically check the CELL die for cracks) or missing components near/under the CELL. If the CELL was delidded can you see exposed copper on top of the chip?

Whats the console history? Is it yours or did you buy it from someone? Was it sealed or did it still have the factory thermal paste?

hi, the cell seems intact and not broken, the ps3 was purchased broken, I don't know its history.

What do you mean a regular cable? Av cable?
With av cable audio is missing aswell

Possibly failed RSX soldering, audio signals aren't taking contact with the pads ? Just a theory.

Ps3 menu sounds can be turned on and off in the sound settings, but I guess you've checked that.

Now you said ps2 games don't output audio... Hmm, not sure then. Maybe EE/GS related as well?

Anyone had any luck fixing A01 black screen in PS2 games? I do have the ingame menu and can exit. I dont remeber seeing this on other consoles but when I exit the game the red LED flashes 4 times but no beeps or error codes are present.

First I found a missing cap C6612 which appears to be for the gate control of Q6600 which makes 1.2V_EEGS_VDD. No change
Replace 5301DGB RSX with 5302A1GB No change
One of the rambus chips was cracked all around the die so I swapped that out and no change
Swapped PS2 bridge chip no change
Used different BR drive that plays PS2 games in another console.

Could it have anything to do with me remarrying a BD board?

Doesnt CFW have include a software emulator for PS2 games? How do you enable or disable it?
