Hello,
before all, please forgive my bad English, i'm not an English speaker,

So while updating a game (I don't remember what game) I went under dev_hdd0/vsh/task/00000001/ to find 3 .pdb (d0.pdb, d1.pdb, f0.pdb) one of them had a Zeus link of a game update, opening the link on my PC browser it started downloading the game update .pkg.

I know running game update/download usually go under dev_hdd0/tmp/np_pkg but i'm not sure if its specific to certain games but this time I don't seem to be able to find the Zeus link in the .pdb updating BattleField 3, from where do games update? or can I find an explanatory for the structure of the PS3 partitions/folders?
Thank you in advance.

I'm on a PS3 super slim (CECH-4004C) HFW 4.86 PS3HEN v 3.0.1 webMAN

what if psn goes down is there a alternative website to download game updates?
Yeah, maybe. I think it's important to download the updates of games you have, because if $ony decides to remove it from servers, at least you will have it.

Because most sites just use those links above.

Are you aware of how much cost the host and the time required to mirror all the files in PSN?

As @jcorrea suggested, download the updates/DLC of your games while you still can.

PS3 is discontinued since September 29, 2015 (May 29, 2017 in Japan). So it already has almost 5 years out of production, and it very likely that Sony discontinue its support very soon after the release of PS5 as a way to push people to move to their new products.

they may be up for a while. when I was doing that vita tutorial on installing adrenaline through IDU mode, the god links for psp games were still active. might use same links for vita's psp emulator though. I know that the eshop on the wii was finally closed January of last year, and Nintendo drops support for old consoles the moment a new one comes out unlike sony. that's a pretty long run. wait, didn't the ps3 and wii come out the same month and year? I think you can still access links, just not officially. might be the same with the ps3, since they're just urls and due to sony's stupidity, they don't even validate whether or not a playstation system is accessing the link.

There is not certainty if the links will continue alive for years or months or weeks. For sure they will not be alive forever; it's not cost effective to keep maintaining more than 2 generations. So it's safer to download now the files that you may need in the future and don't depend on the decision of big companies ;)

Many of the files probably will continue available for a while on torrents or blogs, but some files could be hard to find or the links could die at any time.

Yes i though about that after i posted it, everyone should know this before its too late.
I also found out that every game update has a special code that is needed to confirm if a update is corrupt or not so backing it up twice is also good idea.
I found a website that has europese to japanese ect. game update links with all those codes people need. (But it also uses psn links)
If ps5 cant emulate ps3 games they cant just throw it offline leaving people unable to update their ps3 games.
Well its a good idea to start backing up as soon as possible for now.

I think there's a good chance they'll be around for a while or indefinitely mostly due to the fact that they may bring bc back. the one thing that makes the xbox series x a better choice imo is bc for four systems. sony is just being cheap. besides, clones of updates exist for other systems: http://xboxunity.net/

that's where FSD downloads title updates from. it's not microsoft. it doesn't have everything, but most of what you're interested in is there.
