PS3 FTP videos to PS3 internal hdd and watch them with XMB video player

Basically wondering how to accomplish the title. I have ftped some videos to the video folder on an internal harddrive and would like to know how i can view them in the xmb video player. They do work in movian7

@Jayglass I dont mean to be rude but this is unhelpful. The videos are on my ps3 hard drive but I cannot see them in the XMB video tab. I'm asking how i can fix that

Update, I've found that restarting the PS3 in safemode and rebuilding the database fixes this. However, the XMB doesn't recognise .mkv files

You must use a proper video player for current codecs, like Movian.

The PS3 is only compatible with the following formats: https://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/video/filetypes.html

You'll need to FTP them to the video folder and rebuild the database
