FunTuna (Free McBoot for Fortuna)

PS2 FunTuna (Free McBoot for Fortuna) v1 (r3)

Please name the versions included in FunTuna vs. those who are SUPPOSEDLY newer!

The thing you refer to as "OPL"..."on Ps2-home.com" is NOT "OPL" but "OPL DB" and it is by no means "better" or "newer" than the official OPL.
Infact it is a slap in the face of the real developers of OPL and POPStarter.
Yes the beta versions, so they are not official versions? Where can I find the official version and will it continue to be updated

In this package there is:
- OPL 1553 -> Latest version is 1562.
There aren't any fixes for games or GSM in this build (between 1553 vs. 1562):
https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/commits/master.

- Modified wLaunchELF from 26.08.2020.
Latest "regular" version is from 07.08.2020:
https://github.com/ps2homebrew/wLaunchELF/commits/master.

- Modified FMCB 1.8b, probably because it has a better compatibility with modchips.
Latest FMCB is 1.966, however there are some reports that 1.953 should also work with modchips.

- Simple media system 2.9 rev 2.
Latest version is 2.9 rev 4:
http://members.casema.nl/eugene_plotnikov/.
There was a version that was compiled latest PS2SDK (with minor changes):
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f111/work-progress-39778/index124.html#post1211170.

- ESR ?
Latest ESR is r10f:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/esr.30217/.

- Power off?
Here are a few power off versions:
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/power-off.696/,
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/power-off-ps2.18527/.

- Modified Fortuna V2, so the latest.

BTW I have notice that there is something wrong with "POWEROFF.ELF"...
I does not matter if I launch it through wLe or from FMCB menu I only have BSOD.

I specifically asked you twice, to NAME/SAY the EXACT versions (and applications) you are referring to, because I knew from the get go that you had been deceived by certain people on that page, before you even named the page...

"the beta versions" doesn't tell us ANYTHING!

@jolek linked to all newest and official versions...
"official versions" means exactly that,...! They are not forks, mods, or copies (unlike the OPL FORK you are referring to as "OPL", which actually is "OPL DB" an inferior version with fixes being applied AFTER the original "OPL" and even then, often not correctly!), but the actual ORIGINAL Project.

This has nothing to do with it being "Beta" or a release-build! It's an entirely different modified "fork", separate from the original project!

Regarding FMCB... @HWNJ used a modified version of FMCB 1.8!
The source code for the 1.9.x-series is not openly published/available!

I meant all the apps that are in Funtuna and I was talking about the OPL beta releases https://www.ps2-home.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3&sid=d230ebd3a548eecb9dc2e9550c8647bc, I didn't know that it isn't the official version and when I installed it in Funtuna the whole mod wouldn't load

You still failed to name those versions, which are supposedly "newer".
You know how a version looks like, don't you?

"1.8", "1.9", "2.0",etc.!

Yeah, no!
  1. This are NOT OPL Beta releases, but "OPL DB" which is a "fork" of the original project!
  2. Jay-Jay makes it seem like them being "official OPL builds", to show of what a big "developer" he is (although it looks like he pushed 0 commits) and to drive traffic to the website you have linked to.
  3. HWNJ will probably not DOWNgrade to that OPL "Mod", because he chose to provide the official version.

I didn't know that it isn't the official version and when I installed it in Funtuna the whole mod wouldn't load
No problem. Now you know.
Well, you can't just copy a file in there and expect it to work (even if you only replace a file).
FunTuna's timestamp needs to be kept, for it to work or more specifically it must be the first icon to be shown!

Edit:
I installed the the beta OPL on the PS2 Home forum
Again...
That... is NOT... an OPL Beta!

which probably has some fixes
It probably has additional bugs, like it had in the past!

User-error! Timestamp...!

I didn't mention other apps versions in Funtuna because I don't know which one does it have, I know Funtuna has OPL 0.9.3 which is an old version, will Funtuna continue to get updated?

  1. No, it is NOT "0.9.3", but "revision 1553"! 0.9.3 is somewhere around revision 700-somewhat!
  2. Yes, HWNJ has some plans for it.
  3. Btw.: The site you continually linked, denied HWNJ's release-post about this project, because there supposedly was another thread about it (from someone, instead of the creator of it). After he opened an issue-ticket, they published the thread from the other person weeks after HWNJ's thread/post was denied and then also modified the date, to make it seem that they published it right away. The same person even used HWNJ's handle and did as if he were him and posted under HWNJ's name before (in another thread)... (We have proof of it, so if they would try to deny it, that would not work out.)

Ok I didn't know that, you should add that on the posts here so that people would know that this is the Official version and the other one is fake

Jay-Jay and his alter egos should rather stop their fraudulent behavior, but yes we probably have to point out, that this is the official OPL.

Jay-Jay also keeps repeating a LIE in his OPL DB thread.
Something along the lines of "It has been decided, to include it in a later release." (regarding the PS1-Page)...

I am not calling "OPL DB" "fake" Btw.!
It is a "mod" of the original version, hence maybe an alternative for some users.
It's just, that he makes it seem as if this is his work and project and making it seem as if it is the official OPL.
+ his version is bordering to being illegal, while the original/official OPL is not!

I installed the the beta OPL on the PS2 Home forum which probably has some fixes but the whole Fortuna mod won't work later when I install that OPL https://www.ps2-home.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3&sid=d230ebd3a548eecb9dc2e9550c8647bc

I'm not sure which version are you referring to?
Latest changelog for OPL 1553 is "Use lseek64 instead of lseek" which is commit eecbb0a:
https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/commits/master.

Currently latest OPL DB is 1850.

Let's say rev1827 ~=~ 1553.

rev1849 - Daniel Sousa - Deleted too much stuff! = (OPL DBs ONLY)
rev1848 - Daniel Sousa - Change to match new signature = (OPL DBs ONLY)
rev1847 - Merge remote-tracking branch 'ps2homebrew/master' into merging = (OPL DBs ONLY)
rev1846 - Daniel Sousa - Reverting our appsupport.c changes before merge - = (OPL DBs ONLY)
rev1845 - uyjulian - Fix formatting for last merge
rev1844 - PSISP - UDNL: Cleanup GetFileStatFromImage return code
rev1843 - PSISP - UDNL: Fix to GetFileStatFromImage
rev1840 - AKuHAK - Update compilation.yml
rev1833 - uyjulian - Fix notification display of memory card
rev1832 - KrahJohlito - apps: reload legacy apps config at refresh
rev1831 - KrahJohlito - apps: add APP size to config set
rev1830 - KrahJohlito - apps: have legacy app system getItemConfig - display info page stuff
rev1829 - KrahJohlito - apps: search for legacy apps cfg on each device
rev1828 - uyjulian - Move memory card directory and icon creation to thread
rev1830 - Julian Uy - Merge pull request #310 from uyjulian/fix_detailed_changelog_generation
rev1828 - uyjulian - Add gawk to packages to install
rev1827 - uyjulian - Overhaul memory card selection and folder creation code
rev1827 - Rick Gaiser - Use lseek64 instead of lseek (#309)

I could not understand OPL DB changelog very well,
because for example there are the same rev 1827 with different notes.

Anyway as I mention before i did not see any fixes for games or for GSM.

when I installed it in Funtuna the whole mod wouldn't load
Can you be a little more specific on "wouldn't load"?

I installed the the beta OPL on the PS2 Home forum which probably has some fixes
Well, it has no new fixes.

I know Funtuna has OPL 0.9.3
ERROR!!!
FunTuna has OPL r1553. It is NOT OPL 0.9.3.
Actually, OPL 0.9.3 is OPL r851, so the one included in FunTuna is way newer than it.

Can you try OPL 1562:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-v0-9-3.13415/page-51#post-255460.

I also could not get GSM in OPL 1553 to change res to e.g. 576p.
Tried OPL through USB.

It still won't work because the file needs to be modified for Funtuna

When I restart the PS2 and try to open Funtuna with opening and exiting the memory card it shows the regular PS2 menu

I have notice that there is something wrong with "POWEROFF.ELF" included in the package...
It does not matter if I launch it through wLe or from FMCB menu I only have BSOD.

This version seems to work fine:
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/power-off.696/.

ESR also doesn't work in Funtuna

Nothing needs to be modified.
Copy "OPL_1562-Beta-41f7cf0.ELF" into memory card.
Use FMCB Configurator -> Configure OSDSYS options... -> Configure Item 3 : Open PS2 Loader.
In "Path1" look for "OPL_1562-Beta-41f7cf0.ELF".
Save CNF to MC?.

ESR also doesn't work in Funtuna

I will check that later, thanks.

EDIT: ESR should work.
I have tried Gradius V and Darkwatch.
Both games boot automatically or from FMCB menu (of course when FMCB has been enabled).

BTW: Did you patch your disc(s)?
You can use ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a or ESRPatcher Pro for that.

You don't need to "open" ESR manually. An ESR-Disc boots automatically or via "clicking" on the disc in the "Browser", once FMCB has been started and as long as ESR is linked in the "ESR Path"-variable in the FMCB-Config-file.

OK! I will replace it later! Thanks!

OPL does NOT needs to be modified for FunTuna

ESR also doesn't work in Funtuna
When I open ESR I have a black screen
It does works, you just do not have a ESR patched disc inserted

I still have the error with a defragmented USB with Auslogics Disk Defrag

View attachment 28960
It seems you did not had enough space to defrag the game.
If it stills RED, it is fragmented. It should be GREEN

EDIT: Issue was resolved after speaking with @HWNJ, patched in R2.

Awesome release!

Although I'm having some difficulty getting this up and running.

Did all the instructions as listed, tried with both the FreeDVDBoot uLaunchELF as well as the included uLaunchELF booted from FreeDVDBoot. Deleted FORTUNA folder, did psuPaste, and the metadata of the folder still shows as 2020. Tried it again but this time deleting the BOOT folder and another psuPaste, same thing.

Within my saves I can see an invisible save as well as a corrupted square, much like a failed Fortuna install would appear.
I am getting this same square when i try to load it for the second time, I had to replace the opl because whenever I opened it, i got nothing but a black screen. But after one time, that blue square shows up and funtuna doesen't boot up Can you guys help me out?
