PS3 Game Patches

You can, but the patch will be completely different.

Those values are for memory, if someone find it in the eboot it could be patched permanently.
I want to try TLOU, does anyone know the patch offset in EBOOT.ELF? My game is the PSN version with game ID NPUA80960.
Thanks.

I've been playing around with a bunch of 60fps patches, but one thing I noticed is that on a lot of games it's pointless due to vsync.

While those patches work fine on the emulator due to PC hardware emulating the PS3 being capable of reaching or exceeding 60fps, the actual console might only reach 40 to 50fps.

Vsync caps it down to 30fps. If I look at the sky in games that are normally locked to 30fps but with a 60fps patch applied, the framerate does jump to 60, indicating the patch works, but when looking down again the framerate drops below 60 causing vsync to cap the framerate to 30fps again.

We'd need to bypass vsync if we want to play those games at the theoretical 40/50fps we might reach. Downside would be screen tearing, however on my high refresh rate monitor screen tearing does not seem to be an issue at lower framerates.

I've been trying different clock speeds on my PS3 Slim (2500 model) to push the framerates closer to 60fps, but a lot of games are not limited by graphical performance but they are limited by CPU performance. No amount of overclocking the RSX is gonna make those games perform better. Some of those games will jarringly jump between 30 and 60fps every other second with a 60fps patch applied due to the game just not reaching 60fps.

I'm also in on the creation of a port to Artemis!

I'm right now myself working on trying to figure out how to unlock some other games that I think could benefit.

Hii this is a 60fps Patch for Hatsune Miku Project Diva F2nd that works on real hardware

Project DIVA F 2nd USA Disc 1.00 (Maybe also PSN?)

( i could only test F2nd Psn Eur version) it doesn't reach 60 a lot but it is a patch applied to the EBOOT you just need to:
-Decrypt EBOOT
-Apply the respective patch with patch.yml file
(just paste the respective text copy from * PPU * in the patch.yml file and use a patcher to patch it to eboot.elf)
-Encrypt the EBOOT
-Put the EBOOT in the respective game folder in ur ps3 and that's it, it just works

Try this

I tried it the other day and it still does 30fps. Since it is an Unreal Engine 3 game, surely vblank is preventing the game to scaling to higher framerates.

I didn't test that one, i just converted it from rpcs3 wiki. It was late night and i was very sleepy... Thank you. Now i have a list of all games that use Unreal Engine 3 or UDK.

Thank you, I tried using Arthemis but it's still 30 FPS.

If there's an offset for the EBOOT.ELF patch, I'll try it

Arays of bits can be found with cheat engine but RPCS3's inaccuracy might show a wrong number or two.
Example: MGS3
Real Hardware: (600000007CDFE8508)
RPCS3: (600000007CDFE8510)

EDIT: EBOOT will show the correct values when decrypted.

And here is the app that can patch the eboot with patch.yml file from rpcs3

For Serious Sam 3 BFE it's possible to extract the All.gro with 7-zip and them modify the autoexec_cell.cfg in the SeriousSam3/Config folder. Commands work the same as in the PC version.

So far Ive only been able to enable a 30fps cap and V-Sync since the PC version isnt that well documented.

would you like to share some of the games that you could unlock on your PS3?

I'll share the games I know that work. I didn't save the values so having a look on the RPCS3 page is recommended.
The Last of Us - 60/125 with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)
Uncharted 2 - 60/125 with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)
Final Fantasy XIII - 60 with Triple Buffering (locks at 30fps in the open area in chapter 11)
Gran Turismo 5 - 125 without V-Sync
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - 60 with V-Sync (probably Triple Buffer)
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - 60 with V-Sync (probably Triple Buffer)
Portal 2 - 60 with V-Sync/125 without V-Sync (using console commands from Source Engine)
Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY - 30 with V-Sync/125 without V-Sync (using Debug Menu)
Batman: Arkham City GOTY - 30 with V-Sync/125 without V-Sync (using Debug Menu)
Batman: Arkham Origins - 30 with V-Sync/125 without V-Sync (using Debug Menu)
Grand Theft Auto 4 - 60/125fps with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)
Fallout 3 - 60 with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)
Just Cause 2 - 60 com V-Sync (I don't know :P)
Crysis - up to 60fps using the command sys_maxfps = 60 in the autoexec.cfg file, v-sync commands don't work
Crysis 2 - just like Crysis
Crysis 3 - just like Crysis
Resident Evil 5 - 60 with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)
Resident Evil 6 - 60 with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)
Resident Evil: Revelations - 60 with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin - define a value in the autoexec.cfg, the game is double buffered so it may still drop frequently
Silent Hill: Homecoming - 60 with V-Sync (Double Buffer)
Condemned 2: Bloodshot - define a value in the autoexec.cfg, the game is double buffered so it may still drop frequently
Battlefield Bad Company - recommended to limit at 60fps in the file Ps3GameSettings.cfg (forcing higher values will break the game)
Dragon Dogma - 60 with V-Sync (Double Buffer)
Dragon Dogma: Dark Arisen - 60 with V-Sync (Double Buffer)
Wangan Midnight - 60 with V-Sync (Triple Buffer)

I was inspecting this and folders/file structure should be simmilar to pc version. There is even SeriousSamFusion folder in there and SeriousEditor. Wonder if those are just some leftovers, or if we could be able to play fusion mods, and/or First Encounter HD and Second Encounter HD.

This would be great if possible

EDIT: Here are some images from PC version file structure and i think we should be able to use them on our consoles, if full conversions don't work, maybe models, sounds etc. could be able to interchange.

<snip to prevent excessive post length>

Hey sorry, I haven't been able to respond timely. Unfortunately I'm currently dealing with our family cat unexpectedly passing away and am dealing with stuff like the cremation and paw prints for memorial and stuff.

Yeah I know, I join this forum and immediately bring drama.

In short I was able to unlock MGS4, GTA V and CoD: Bo1 (single player).

These games don't benefit a lot from the patches (especially GTA V which runs like trash) but did show the patches work. (Looking at the sky for example would pass the set FPS limits).

One thing that should be noted is that some game have physics or runtime bound to framerates and might break.

Looks like you guys are already ahead of me, I'll be back experimenting when I have the time.

I'm not the smartest person, but I'd like to figure out for at least some games how they control their internal render resolution.

Now we just need someone to find out which command enables shadows on the PS3 side (or anisotropic filtering)

How high are the fps on BO1 for you?
About GTA V, how did it work? I thought it had vblank restrictions since it remains capped at 30 on my side.
I know GTA IV does work on my side but even with the unlock it still suffers a lot to go above 30.
About MGS 4, the game already targets 60fps though the double buffering drags ot down. I tried the fps patch on my PS3 but couldn't notice any effects since the game is v-sync limited. I'll give it a look today :smug:

Maybe you can check on pcgamingwiki.

I tried to load SSHD and in the first attempt console shut down, i had to reboot manualy. In the second attempt it booted the game but the mod did not display.

Maybe i didn't respected folder/file structure i just added it in All.gro no extraction, just puted it in with 7zip, but i think it might be SeriousSam3/Content folder where it needs to be set, or maybe it's hardcoded in the EBOOT.

One more thing, in Doom 3 BFG FPS is always 60, and the res is 720p. Maybe that could be uncaped. I think our consoles should run idtech engine 4 with no problems. I'll look more into this and reply later.

I'm going to take a look at that game today, hope I can figure something out.

i don t think the rage engine would have vblank restrictions

Doom 3 adjusts resolution on the fly to keep the 60fps, just like Rage. I wonder how it will behave when we unlock the framerate. Maybe we should disable the feature because forcing a higher framerate will tell the engine to lower the resolution so it can reach the target. And when it drops resolution, it can go as low as 640x720p and we don't want that.

Also I'll be updating my list of unlockable games, found 2 of them thanks to @Tanzu15 and who knows if with the testing on ID Tech based games we can find more.

Oh, i see, didn't know that's how it behaves. Thank you for clarifying this. I was messing with Serious Sam games, and i found out that the fusion version of the game is indeed modable. I didn't test this yet, but there is some info on steam comunity on this. It seems that the mods should be in .gro extension, and named propperly, like All_01.gro, All_02.gro etc. So no extracting is needed. But i saw that all the mods available on steam have dat files, on ps3 there is edat. So i will check this further and i'll let you know.
