PS4 General Ps4 Homebrew questions

I recently purchased a PS4 standard edition with 5.05 firmware and the HEN exploit by Al Asif worked like a charm. So now i am wondering about emulation, video playback etc. (For ps3 there was retroarch and PS1/Ps2 emulation and Movian to play videos)

1) What homebrew apps can you guys recommend? (Must Haves)
2) Is there a youtube homebrew app?
3)And where to get the actual software packages?
4) Also i am going to install most games to an external drive using the ps4 extended storage option.
Should i go with app2usb instead? If so, why?

Thanks in advance
to anyone who takes the time to respond, your answers to my last post were VERY helpful, thanks a bunch again :-D

I personally use extended storage. it's a lot less hassle than app2usb. just remember: it's best not to leave anything plugged in when deploying hen. it's more liable to kernel panic if you do. though, I leave stuff plugged in anyway. it seems to take too long for the extended storage to be read if you leave it unplugged. I also have a flash drive I use to backup games that I leave plugged in.

linux is also good. I haven't tried it, but I've read you can play ps3 and wii u games (as long as it doesn't require the gamepad I think) with it.

I liked it but not the same as GameOS and doesnt seem like you have exploited system,
but here is a good channel that displays many things on PS4 Linux that you can do.

So you can get a good idea of what is possible and note.
RetroArch Linux provides some great emulation still not matched on the GameOS side.

1. nothing really, just install the homebrew apps that your interested in, HEN/Mira on PS4 works just fine stand alone, unlike PS3 where you need some sort of must have apps to fully utilize the hardware. most of the interesting stuff is all in linux anyway.
2. there's one
3. same with question #1 get your homebrew apps packages on certain website or via homebrew browser. if its a commercial/backup games, your on your own on that.
4. its up to you, extended storage is very convenient if you only use it on PS4, but if you use that USB hdd on other things, app2usb is much more better.

I have a tutorial on backing up games. it's not hard, but it's time-consuming. it can take up to 2 hours to get it from dumping the game to an installed pkg. it's not like the ps3 at all.

Before starting anything, make sure that you take adequate protection to block accidental update of FW. Disable updates in console menu & JB payload as well, keep console completely offline, if possible use external wifi module, block update servers from your router settings.
