Hello, I am new to this forum. I have recently installed HEN, and I wanted to give you a tutorial on how!
You should install HEN because it completely unlocks your console to use it with more apps and other stuff!
So these are the things you need to install HEN.
Preparation (Part 1)
[1] First, go on your PC and go to this link here for the files you need.
https://www.ps3xploit.me/firmware/hfw/HFW_4.92.1_PS3UPDAT.PUP
[2] Then, plug your USB into your PC.
[3] Right click the drive that you just plugged in using File Explorer/Manager. (most likely D: or E
[4] Click Format and MAKE SURE that it is on FAT32 or EXFAT and NOT NTFS. If not, it won't work.
[5] Click Start, then wait for the task to complete.
[6] Then, afterwards, go to Downloads and rename the file you just downloaded to "PS3UPDAT.PUP".
[7] Once that is done, you want to drag your PS3UPDAT.PUP file to the USB.
[8] Then, create a new folder in the root directory of the USB (the empty space with the PS3UPDAT.PUP on the USB) named PS3. Then, inside the PS3 folder, make a new folder named UPDATE. Drag the PS3UPDAT.PUP inside the UPDATE folder.
Here's what your USB should look like when set up correctly. Once all this is done, eject the USB from the PC by clicking the little arrow icon next to the USB drive letter.
Here's what your USB should look like when set up correctly.

Installation (Part 2)
[9] Now you want to take the USB out of the PC. Afterwards, plug your USB into the port closest to the disc drive on your PS3.
[10] Go over to Settings and scroll down to System Settings. Click on Automatic Updates and MAKE SURE it's switched to OFF.
[11] Then, scroll down to "Show What's New" in System Settings and MAKE SURE that is OFF too.
[12] After, go to Users and click "Turn Off System" and click Yes.
[13] Then, once your PS3 shows a red light, hold the power button until you hear 2 BEEPS AT ONCE. Stop holding it once that happens, and plug in your controller using the Mini-USB and click the PS button.
If you did this step right, you'll see the recovery menu that looks like this.
[14] Then scroll down to System Update. Then click "Do system update via Storage Device". Then it will check for updates on the USB.
When you click System Update, you should get a screen like this.
[15] After, agree to the License Agreement and install the update. Wait until you get to the XMB (PS3 home menu) and then go over to the Network tab and click on Internet Browser.
[16] Click Start twice and type this link in.
https://ps3xploit.me/hen/installer/
Then click Start twice again. Then click "Initialize HEN installer" and it will do a bunch of stuff, like flash sometimes. Once that is done, click "Install HEN" and it will do it again. I'm pretty sure there's a prompt, and say Yes to that.
=============================
Initialization (Part 3)
[17] Your PS3 will then automatically reboot, and if you did this guide correctly, the startup should say "PS3HEN" instead of "PS3". Then click "Enable HEN" and it should show a HEN logo with the PS3 background for a few seconds. It will go back to the XMB. You have successfully installed and ran HEN.
You'll see the Enable HEN icon like this, click it each time you restart your PS3.
=============================
Post-installation (Part 4)
[18] You can now install homebrew apps. One I recommend is MultiMAN and it helps access files you can't normally. Another is PSNPatch and it helps use HEN without getting banned. I will make a follow up post soon on how to install packages.
=============================
Troubleshooting / Safety Notes
[1] MAKE SURE the drive is like this.
USB > PS3 > UPDATE > PS3UPDAT.PUP.
[2] Do the steps IN ORDER. If you miss 1 step or do it backwards, it won't work.
[3] Double-check that it's FAT32 or EXFAT.
[4] If you are still having trouble with directories, download this and extract the contents to the root of the drive.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/v1r9wmfkgulvz4z/extract-to-root-of-usb.zip/file
(This will download a file with the directories and PUP file already written.)
[5] DO NOT update through Sony after this. It might make you lose access to "Enable HEN" and possibly BRICK your PS3.
[6] DON'T WORRY if it shows a black screen for a few seconds after the installation. It means it worked.
[7] DO NOT turn your PS3 off during this entire process! It WILL GUARANTEED BRICK your PS3.
[8] TRY NOT TO DO A STEP WRONG. It will result in a BRICK if you don't pay attention!
Farewell for now
