I don't know if that's normal, but I have some headphones for the PS4 (Sony), and I also own the pulse earphones, which have very good audio, so it may do better? I've never tried this patch, but it may be normal to have poor quality audio.

The poor sound quality is due to this patch redirecting the chat audio, which is mono and low bitrate, as it is intended only for voice

Lol, funny description. The problem with my setup, my monitor's headphones jack outputs metallic sound quality, it's very bad and has no bass. Do you think sound would still be bad even if i buy a headphone with usb dongle, like the hyperx cloud 2

Unfortunately, the PS3 can not stream high quality audio via BT so that dongle would be useless here.

Your only option would be to use a BT audio transmiter with RCA inputs:

Someone from reddit just pointed me this topic this morning and I am very curious to learn more about it. My PS3 is SLIM with HEN (PS3HEN v3.3.0 + HFW Released for 4.91 Firmware) and I really really would like to play RetroArch and PS2/PSX classics using my official SONY PULSE 3D headset. It is original and has the USB dongle.

Few posts back, LuanTeles said "Btw, this patch is no longer needed as HEN already has a toggle for this feature." So... Should I install the HEN patch or it is already "merged" into the latest HEN? If so, where shoul I go to turn this feature ON/OFF?

I am really excited about playing with my SONY PULSE headset. (I don't mind chat/voice, I play offline and alone all the time).

not needed. it is included with hen, but you must turn it on. goto HFW Settings at top of Network column on xMB. look for libaudio on/off. (restart is not needed.)

I have the pulse ear buds, which sound very good with the PlayStation portal. From what I've heard with this patch, they're liable to sound bad, because I think it will be in monaural.

It works natively? Without needing any patch (just HEN, in the case)?

Definetely nothing worked for me and my Sony Pulse 3D. (This is it:
)

I turned libaudio ON (under HEN tools) and it made no effect at all.
I changed the audio setting output to Wireless headphone, and it had no effect too.
It's a pity!

  7. Scroll Down till you See Audio Device Settings
  8. Choose Your Device
  9. Start your Game and you will hear sound from your HeadSet and Have fun :)
