Going the extra mile

So this isn't really anything else besides my documentation of the time and work spent to set up my PS3 just the way I want.

As I'm limited by my laptop (currently 40Gb free space), I turned my house upside down in order to find every single one of my old hdd's to try and make ends meet.

As some know, I recently decided I wanted to play my backups from an external NTFS drive using sMan, but as my 2Tb drive is packed and wouldn't allow me to change the cluster size, I had two options, give up or get up.

I chose the latter...

So, I dug out each and every one of my old broken PC's, Nas units and even an old server way way back from the deepest, darkest corners of my cellar. I managed to salvage 6 decent drives (and took the opportunity to scavenge the remains for cables etc... ;)

So here I am, currently in the process of moving all games from the 2Tb to a bunch of smaller (160-320Gb) drives. The main goal is still to use the 2Tb drive (the only one that's in a enclosure), but I may end up patching the others together to try and make even more space to expand my library. :)

First transfer is on the way and the 220Gb worth of games takes about 4h to transfer. I'm in for a long run.

I hear you, man. I want to use an ntfs drive with my system, but I don't have a spare hdd available. I'm also not sure if you have to use prep ntfs on the drive. when I used that before, I could no longer view the hdd on the pc. it just showed unallocated space, so I was forced to format it. luckily, I had a backup of the drive. I'm not sure if it was due to using gpt instead of mbr or not. I may have forgotten to convert to mbr through easeus. I could, however, transfer content to and from it with irisman, so I really don't know. <shrugs shoulders> ;)

Well, if I read the OP correctly, in sMan there's no need for PrepNTFS or refresh XML...

Since I upgraded to rebug 4.82.1 LITE, which is missing WebmanMod, I decided to go with sMan. I have to say that I'm very pleased so far. If I manage to get my 2Tb drive working on it, I'll be good. ;)

I think I read that as well. the only reason I'm using webman mod is for gamedata utility. I have a lot of psn games on my external hdd. I think there are over 200 on that and my internal hdd combined.

I see.. That's a sweet collection. :)

Never been that enthusiastic about PSN games tho. Mostly because I just have that 1 external HDD. And I'd fill up my 1Tb internal way too fast with PSN games. ;)

Well, today I got lucky. My neighbor came and asked if I wanted to buy a 1Tb desktop hdd that he bought but couldn't use. Paid 5$ for it and plan to get a casing for it later on. :)
