PS2 GSM, Image stuck to 4:3 on most games.

Hello, i'm trying to use GSM to play in 16:9 576p, but the image is resized to 4:3 by most games, here is an example :

I'm using a PS2 to HDMI + a capture card, which doesn't resize or overscan incorrect aspect ratios, infact trying to set the aspect ratio to 4:3 by setting the capture card to output to 576p on obs or selectin "4:3" aspect ratio in AmarecTV like the console is, squishes the image from side to side even more and ends up looking like this :

PS:
I just tried on a standard LCD 1080P tv with the PS2 to HDMI converter, and the image is still 4:3, it's not the fault of the converter i think, as i can still see debug colors in the black borders stretching to the ends of the screen. and the aspect ratio is just fine in 720p/1080i display modes in OPL.

Edit : using my HD TV, i managed to end up with 1080i looking ALMOST perfect, it's slightly squished but it's very minor, meanwhile 720p is very squished top to bottom.

This is a problem, as my capture card does not deal with interlaced signals very well ^^" (posting here since the forum stopped me from editing my post earlier)

The first image seems in correct proportions. Are you enabling widescreen patches for 16:9??
Actually, on this screenshot i did, but after enabling widescreen patches, this game doesn't seem to have any difference. i'm running in the 4:3 mode, as the widescreen mode squishes everything heavily.

Note : i tried 1080i on this game and it's not exactly 16:9 there either but the game seems to be in the right proportions as well.

Man, you have to change the TV screen settings to wide or something like that. It is an anamorphic widescreen, just like in the old DVD Video movies, the video resolution does not change, the pixel aspect ratio does.

The TV is not the problem. the signal is actually going all the way to the sides of the screen. stretching further would decrease visual quality by a lot.

Yes, majority of the GSM forced games in the 480p and 576p modes will look that way. There is nothing you can do. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Just for being clear: Resolution settings on GSM have nothing to do with aspect ratio. A 4:3 game will remain 4:3 on any setting (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, etc... doesn't matters). 16:9/widescreen patches are made for that purpose, once you enable them, the game will be in widescreen (again, regardless on the GSM resolution you choose).

So your problem is only about widescreen patches. If you correctly enabled the cheats on OPL options, then it could be a faulty cheat (file is corrupted or not converted for OPL).

Have you downloaded the patches from here? PS2 - Open PS2 Loader Widescreen Cheats | PSX-Place

Hi guys!
I have a question. Can it be possible to make fullscreen mode when you play PS2 Games in OPL? Im using this PS2 to HDMI Adapter to make my games in Digital Led TV more clearer. The point is, mostly my games has black borders like margin thing its sides in the screen of my TV. Can anybody can answer with this? Thanks in advance.

OP, i think your capture card doesn't like those settings , thus your result . Try a direct connection to TV .

My question is still about the 4:3 apect ratio . I am using SNESTICLE as ISO but games are displayed streched. Add the low resolution of SNES and it does not look good . Is there any way to force SNESTICLE to 4:3 or 3:2 using OPL/GSM ?
