How To Install HEN​
Do NOT install or use CCAPI or SEN Enabler with HEN! Superslims with 12 GB flash may be bricked! On other models, you will be forced to FORMAT and LOSE ALL DATA!

Do NOT enter FSM (Factory Service Mode) with HEN!

HEN was created for Superslim and newer Slim models that can not use CFW. If your model can use CFW, do not use HEN.

**If you run out of room while entering addresses into the PS3 browser, just press R1 to keep going. You can do this more than once.**
Hybrid Firmware​

Before installing HEN, you must first install Hybrid Firmware (HFW) 4.84 or above. If you have trouble installing firmware, see my firmware guide HERE.

Official Installers​

There are three installers hosted on ps3xploit.me. They are the "HEN Auto", "Official" and "Alternate" installer. (All three installers are mirrored on my Guthub site at https://ps3addict.github.io in case the official site is down.)

The HEN Auto and Official installers will download the HEN payload and enable it. Once HEN is running, they will download the full HEN pkg and install it.

The Alternative installer adds an icon in the Network column that will download and install the full HEN pkg. It seems to be the most popular of the three. It was made by @lmn7, @DeViL303, and @xps3riments.

Now, you need to check some browser settings. Open the PS3 browser, press triangle, and look under "Tools". Make sure that "Javascript" is ON and "Confirm Browser Close" if OFF.

If you have trouble with an installer, try setting the webpage as the browser's "Homepage", then close and open the browser to try again (reboot if you still have trouble).

Make sure you type "http" in the PS3 browser when using the official site, because "https" will not work!

HEN Auto Official Alternate
  • Using HEN Auto Installer

    1. Open PS3 browser and goto http://www.ps3xploit.me.
    2. Select "PS3HEN" and then select "HEN Auto Installer".
    3. After loading, select "Auto Install HEN".
    4. After two downloads are completed, the pkg installation will begin.
    5. Reboot after installation finishes. Use the "Enable HEN" icon to start HEN.
  • Using Official HEN Installer

    1. Open PS3 browser and goto http://www.ps3xploit.me.
    2. Select "PS3HEN" and then select "HEN Installer/Enabler".
    3. After loading, select "Initialize HEN Installer".
    4. When it is finished, select "Install HEN".
    5. After two downloads are completed, the pkg installation will begin.
    6. Reboot after installation finishes. Use the "Enable HEN" icon to start HEN.
  • Using Alternate HEN Installer

    1. Open PS3 browser and goto http://www.ps3xploit.me.
    2. Select "PS3HEN" and then select "HEN Installer (Alternate)".
    3. After loading, there will be instructions on the screen. I have listed them below so you do not have to remember them.
    4. Close browser.
    5. Open "Remote Play" and quit immediately.
    6. Use the new icon to download and install the HEN pkg.
    7. Reboot after installation finishes. Use the "Enable HEN" icon to start HEN.
Auto HEN Installer​

The Auto HEN installer is unofficial. It was created by @lmn7 and is hosted on my Github. I highly recommend it, especially if you have trouble with the other installers.

Even though the installers on ps3xploit.me must use http, this installer uses https instead.

To use the installer, follow these instructions:

  1. Open https://ps3addict.github.io/autohen in PS3 browser.
  2. The download will start automatically.
  3. After download completes, it will install and reboot.
  4. Use the "Enable HEN" icon to start HEN.

Easy HEN Upgrade​

This method is the easiest way to update if you do not want to update HFW also. All you need is the new HEN pkg for your HFW version from ps3xploit.me and a USB storage device.

  1. Place the pkg on your USB device and name it "HEN_UPD.pkg".
  2. Plug the USB device into the right-hand USB port.
  3. Enable HEN using the icon on your XMB. The pkg installation will start automatically after a few seconds.

Reboot after installation finishes. You should see the new HEN version in the "Welcome to HEN" message.

Hello man, ty for this tuto but when I go to ** http://www.**ps3xploit.com >Doma...no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) with my ps3 and I initialize HEN installer, after loading it says "HEN installer exploit failed" can anyone help me pls ?

EDIT: 2reboot and change the home page with hen installer page works !

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS SIMPLE TUTORIAL. when exploit intitialization goes to like 90% it says failed

after hen installer completed what do i do next

if you managed to get HEN installed, try opening the following webpage (from ps3 browser) right after starting ps3. it should enable HEN.

https://ps3addict.github.io/enablehen/flash.html

if it enables and does not freeze, then something you installed changed the enabler icon. just reinstall hen to fix the enabler.

if it enables (it will say "welcome to hen") but still freezes, make an empty file on usb named "boot_plugins.txt". insert the usb, reboot, and try to enable again. (the empty file will prevent plugins from running.)
 
Hello I having trouble installing HEN Alternative on my ps3, it say that I must install Hybrid firmware but I did so 4.88 have done everything to delete cookies, search history. Anyone mind guiding me me the right way?
 
I'm completely new to this whole firmware modding thing. I'd like to be able to run backups of my PS2 games on my PS3. Is it possible with HEN? And also, since you say here on the OP that installing HEN will have me format my disk, is there any way for me to backup my digital games and all the saves I currently have and then put them back in after HEN is installed?

some PS2 games work but may need CONFIG files.

installing HEN will not require formatting HDD. you should not lose any data.

i was refering to CCAPI and SEN Enabler. those homebrews are not compatable with HEN. they cause problems that might require format to fix.

It freezes every time I open https://ps3addict.github.io/enablehen/flash.html. The cube is not rotating any more.
I created "boot_plugins.txt" on usb, rebooted, started again, https://ps3addict.github.io/enablehen/flash.html still doesn't work.

i think that used the AutoHEN installer. it doesn't use flash so that enabler will not work. if that is the problem, you should have a file called "HEN3xxHFW48xFULL.pkg" or similar in your pkg manager. install it for normal hen. after rebooting, the "enable hen" on your xmb (or the webpage above) should work.
 
I really wish there was an easier, safer way to do this. Every time I get into doing this, one part of it scares me off as I don't wanna smoke my PS3. I shouldn't say easier bcuz it does seem easy, but I know I'll def run into a problem and won't be able to back my way out or figure it out. This is like the 3rd time over the last 2 years I got amped to do this to play College football revamped & ended up not doing it. Play with old uniforms & be safe or play with new uniforms updated, but risk ruining the system & play nothing.
 
My friend is having an issue installing the hen pkg from the .me site. He's on 4.89HFW, it initializes then downloads but once he gets to the step of installing & enabling hen it pops a 80029563 error code. I searched it & got back pkg is corrupted or incomplete?? Any fix to this? Also can't access package manager to install hen thru usb

put THIS file on usb amd name it "HEN_UPD.pkg". put THIS file on usb and name it "PS3HEN.BIN". plug the usb into the right-hand usb slot and load "ps3addict.github.io/enablehen/usb000.html" in the ps3 browser (while connected to the internet). ps3 should load and install HEN.

if the webaddress is too long, press R1 to continue typing.

After many restarts I always get the following error: Failed to load setup file. Close the browser and try again. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

there 4 installers so we need to find which installer you tried...

have you tried all three official installers?

have you tried them from both ps3xploit.me and ps3addict.github.io?

did you try AutoHEN on ps3addict.github.io?
