thank you, I've been messing about trying to get filezilla to work for a few days. came across this tut and had it running in 10 minutes. i appreciate the time you took to do this. all the best my friend

Bumping this from the depths…

I was trying to make a backup of my 1TB HDD, and I kept running into the issue of "Error 421: Too many connections" with FileZilla, where I would have to reset the FTP on the PS3 by exiting MultiMan and opening it again. I had maximum simultaneous transfers set between 2 and 10, and I believe that is the cause of this error.

After much trial and error, a few freezes and corrupted file scans, I found this post and it mostly worked. I still ran into an issue where if many small files were transferred, the connection would be closed after 30 seconds / approx. 500 files and it would lead to failed file transfers. Error: Connection has been closed by the server. I did not find a solution for this, only waiting until the inevitable failure, stop processing the queue, disconnect, reconnect, wait for the reconnection, then resume processing the queue. I have some tips/notes after transferring 25000 files.

- Evilnat CFW 4.89
- blackb0x FTP crashes my system
- openps3ftp does not open and freezes the PS3
- Irisman allowed for better directory listing loading, and with this I was able to queue all 25000 files. Multiman would load the directory listings much slower, and would crash/close the connection before queueing all the files. Irisman was worse with the dropped connections, often dropping connection midway through a file and not closing the connection. It would have to be restarted after 1 minute or less.
- With the file queue built in FileZilla from running irisman, I loaded Multiman again. I sorted the file queue from smallest to largest, and sat at my computer waiting for the connection to drop, stopping the processing of the queue, disconnecting, reconnecting, waiting for the reconnection, then resuming the processing of the file queue.
- This error occurred until the files became 250000 - 300000 bytes in size. As soon as that size file was reached, it would keep the connection open and not drop it anymore. My transfer speed starts at 11 Mbps at each new file. I believe that the high transfer speeds initiated too many connections too quickly on these small files for the FTP settings on the PS3 to handle or something like that, causing the dropped connection.
- Between 100000 - 250000 bytes, sometimes the transfer would freeze in the middle of the file and not close the connection, and multiman would have to be restarted. This did not occur at a lower or higher size than this range.

I hope this might help someone! Thanks for writing this up, it was very helpful!

use a direct connection like an ethernet cable.
@pinky , @sandungas @jacobsson
all i have to do is connect the PS3 to the laptop with a ethernet cable and follow jacobsson tutorial ?
I tried , i followed the tutorial to the "T"
I tried to connect with 10.251.40.217 (5th picture) but I receive a message error in red : Could not Connect to server." I changed it for the Console IP but could not connect either...

EDIT : my old filezilla setup was working flawlessly
I have erased it since i fucked up the setting reading this tuto and now that i re-install filezilla on my laptop and try to use it like old day ....it dont work anymore &%!^#

It give me this message :
Status: Connecting to 192.[Erased for privacy purpose]
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters.
Status: Logged in
Status: Retrieving directory listing...
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing
Status: Sending keep-alive command
Status: Sending keep-alive command
Status: Sending keep-alive command

is it will work on HEN ?!
I first tried to make an attempt on my wife HEN console in order to understand the process before making it on my CFW cobra one
First, you have to have crossover cable if you connect with cable directly to PC. Router/switch does crossover automatically.
Also full duplex 1000BASE-T custom connection should be made, sometimes PS3 auto setting chooses inferior option. Of course if your switch support 1000BASE-T standard. Use multiman for FTP.

I originally speak french so i dont understand a lots the technical explanation.
all i know if that BEFORE i tried a faster way to tranfert file today , my old filezilla (wireless setup) worked perfectly fine.

now that i have erased everything (cleaned filezilla program & old folder on C: )
WHAT EVER the version i install and try to connect to my PS3 using the correct IP address
I keep getting theses message :

Status: Connecting to 192.[ ******** finishing with a unknow .21 ?]
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters.
Status: Logged in

Command: TYPE I
Response: 200 TYPE OK

Try change settings:
Encryption: only use plain FTP (insecure)
Transfer mode: active
Long time i did not FTP to ps3, this is from memory.
Create new site with PS3 IP, so settings would be used only with ps3.

The damn problem is the SETTING i followed in the tutorial (1st page) COMPLETELY fuckup my Filezilla settings
EVEN if i erase the program and folder ....theses "new" setting are still sticking there what ever the number of time i erase and re-install several filezilla version !
HOW I can get rid of theses "new settings' for GOOD ???

I FIXED it ... (phew i was starting to pull my hair)
I deleted everything and found i had to manually delete this
%APPDATA%\FileZilla to reset the settings
now everything is working back to normal
I will prefer tranfering at 1.5/1.7 surely than messing with everything

Thanks
