Hard drive upgrade (again)

Hi all. Just a quick question or two.

I upgraded my fat PS3 80Gb to 1Tb hard drive a while ago. I've just jailbroken it and decided that with over 1000 movies on the drive and a few games that I'd need a 2Tb drive.
When I upgrade the drive (again) what CFW/HFW will I need on the USB flash drive to complete the process? Last time was easy as it was OFW but unsure with jailbroken version.
OFW before jailbreaking was 4.85 and I have HFW 4.85.1 now.
Do I need the same HFW or could I change to a different CFW instead?
The model I've got will go down to 2.45 firmware and is NOR. It is flashable too.

PS3 will not natively use a 2TB as an Internal HDD, 1TB is the limit for internals normally and making it work is not worth the hassle you will get or the hassle getting it to work as you could permanently destroy the 2TB HDD. Trust me I had a 2TB in one of my PS3's and I have now removed it as it was a constant headache.

Just use the 2TB as an External HDD it will do the job just the same then you will have 3TB of storage for games and movies.

Would you recommend a proper 2Tb external drive or an internal 2Tb with USB hard drive enclosure?
Could I get a 4Tb and partition it into 2 * 2Tb and use that as 2 external PS3 drives?
I'm OK when it comes down to PC's and Laptops but unsure about PS3 stuff.

Defo an internal sata HDD (2.5 or 3.5) in a USB enclosure, these ones that come already done, eg Passport dives etc, can have fw, features on them the PS3 does not like or incompatible with the PS3 and therefore will not use them.

And yes you could use a 4TB and partition it into 2 x 2TB < this would be the max for one HDD and partitions as the PS3 will see a max of 2 partitions on an HDD at a max size of 2TB each.

Thanks for help. I think I'll go for the 4Tb option and use 1 partion for PS3 and the other partition for Laptop as laptop drive is almost full too. I've found what I need - USB side anyway - for the drive and the 3.5" drives are cheaper than 2.5" drives anyway. This should work according to the blurb... Will get one and post here on outcome as other users may find it useful.
