Hello,
I'm just about to go through the process of replacing the HDD in a Slim console which I'm planning to use to replace my dying Phat one.
Before taking out the HDD, I decided to use PS3Toolset to grab copies of they syslog, the flash memory dump and then the flash memory patch dump.
When it comes to the flash memory patch dump, it's actually called a name. It came up as "nofsm_patch_491.bin". When it was downloading to the memory stick, I saw a reference to "CFW" in the activity. I wish I'd taken a photo, but I didn't.
Is this a standard name or is it indication that this PS3 has previously had CFW on it?
I only ask as I'll be finding out pretty soon I guess if this console has been banned by Sony through someone elses doing. I really hope not, as this is planned to be my fulltime machine!
This is the danger of buying a console from Ebay!
