Help needed !!!!

Hi all together,
my daughter - got a present;: a PS3 with CFW 4.89 Evilnat Cobra (8.3) (CEX) by her father , who didn't know, what he bought - exept that she should be able to play the PS2- and PS1- Games now on PS3.
She was very happy- until she noticed, that she doesn't know, how to run PS1- or PS2 Games on it.

I - not knowing anything about gaming - have now opened this account. I will send my data to her, so she can read, whatever I write or somebody hopefully may answer.

She would be very glad to get an explanation - easy to understand (step by step?) - what to do.

Whoever should know it: please help !!!!!! Thank you so much !!!!

That's not proper forum category. ;) Should be inside PS3 > General.

What model do you have? Models are written on sticker and started from CECH symbols. Eg. CECHL04, CECH-2502 etc.

Does PSX and PS2 games are original and you trying to play from optical discs?

Hello, CRat here. The model number is "CECHK04". It's a PAL PS3 and I'm trying to play original PAL games on it.
In fact, PS1 games seem to work (maybe the game I tried before is broken), but PS2 games don't. When I put the disc in, the PS3 recognizes it and tries starting the game - the screen goes black and nothing happens. The Playstation freezes completely, so I have to restart it with the toggle switch (?) (Sorry, english isn't my mother language) on the back.
 
So they will not work. Emulators used above CECHE** supporting only digital content (disc images packed with meta data, bought from PlayStation Store like on any OFW, or self-made if you have CFW). Maybe Cobra/Mamba payload patching that, I dunno, but I believe it does not and tries to run disc, invoking emulator which expecting PS2 CPU/GPU/RDRAM existence which your model lacking (emulator intended to use on CECHA/B** or CECHC/E**).

Plus, running PSX and PS2 games from discs are region locked (again, I'm not sure if CFW lifting that limit).

Okay, so discs themselves are impossible. Then I'll do my research now on how to get PS2 games into a digital version. Thank you for your help!
 
iirc, ps1 disc images go in PSXISO and ps2 in PS2ISO. ps2 games must be run on the internal hdd while ps1 games can be on an external hdd. I'm not sure if managunz or irisman can rip ps2 games if it's not a bc system, so you may have to use imgburn, a pc application, to rip your discs, then transfer them over. I'd suggest you use webman mod to boot your games from the xmb, stands for cross media bar, the home menu of the ps3. sorry, wasn't sure how well you knew the terminology, so I tried to be as basic as possible. I don't mean to sound patronizing.
