PS3 Help on hacking a CECH-3004A on OFW 4.81

Hello I'm new to the forum:
I've been doing some reading here...but to be honest it all very confusing.

So I just got a second hand PS3 CECH-3004A running OFW 4.81.
The console is all original never been hacked.

What I want is to be able to play PS3, PS2, PS1 games, also to use Retroarch to emulate other consoles.

I read that for PS3 slim running OFW 4.81 cannot have CFW only HEN, is that right?
I mean I'm a noob at this but willing to learn.

I need guidance on how to hack my console.
Should I update the OFW from Sony or stay on 4.81?
I formatted the HD to erase previous owner stuff,

Any assistance/help is appreciated!

You're right only being able to run HEN.

Being that you can't run CFW this area is where you'll find all the info you need.

I'd recommend this guide as a starting point & if you have any questions just ask

One tip: Do you recommend upgrading OFW 4.81 from PSN or stay in this version?

Update with USB to 4.85 and run HEN from there
